Went there with some expectations but sad to say, it was not up to the mark. We have to seat on the floor and have to eat on a flat table. We asked for a table and we were ready to wait for few minutes but they said that they cannot arrange for that, so we sat on the floor. Now coming to the service, after getting the menu they took the order from us almost after 20 minutes and recieved it almost after 30 minutes of placing the order. Now coming to the food, we ordered:

Basanti Pulao: The quantity was not upto the mark depending on the price. But talking about the taste it was ok but nothing great. We can have basanti pulao of this taste in any of the restaurant in this City in cheaper price than this.

Gondhoraj fried chicken: It was cold when it was served to us. It was served with kasundi which tasted better than the chicken. The chicken lost its crispness but the taste was not bad. It has a proper taste of Gondhoraj zest inside the chicken.

Bhetki Bhapa: The fish fillet was small in size but the taste of the bhetki was pretty fresh and nice. It was juicy and was well cooked in the mustard gravy. But the quantity was quite disappointment for every dish.

Doi Katla: This dish was served hot. The piece of the fish was served to us was not atall good. Actually this kind piece should never be served in a restaurant of this stature. It was a neck piece. But the taste of the fish was glod but the gravy was but runny in texture. The taste of it was ok.

Dhakai Pora Mutton: It contains 6 pieces of mutton. The only dish which I can say that, it was perfect. The mutton was well cooked and tender in the onion juice. The taste of the gravy was very nice and it was well combined with basanti pulao.

*Note:

When they served us mineral water I asked them for regular water and the staff instantly replied me that they are providing it on MRP, no extra charges. Then also I asked them about the regular water but the staff was confused what to answer and eventually he said rhat that they normally don't keep regular water. According to the rules every restaurant has to provide regular water to the customers but I doubt they were aware of this law.

While placing the order I asked them provide the starter item before the main course after almost half and hour they brought the main course first and when I told them that I have asked them to give me the starter before the mains, they replied that we brought all of them together. The service needs to be improved otherwise it will...

I recently dined at Kolkata Rajbari, a restaurant that's been quite hyped up for its Bengali cuisine. However, my experience left me questioning whether the hype is truly deserved.

Ambiance and Service: The restaurant's ambiance is certainly inviting, with decor that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Bengal. However, the service was a mixed bag. While the staff was polite, there was a noticeable issue with the temperature of the food served.

Food Experience: One of the most disappointing aspects of my visit was that most of the dishes were served cold, except for the fried items (vaja). When I inquired about this, the staff attributed it to the air conditioning in the restaurant. Frankly, this felt more like an excuse than a valid reason, especially since I’ve enjoyed Bengali food at many other popular places without encountering this problem. The cold food significantly affected the overall dining experience.

What I Loved:

Fish Fry: The Fish Fry was one of the few bright spots in the meal. It was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and flavorful inside. The fish was fresh, and the seasoning was spot on, making it a delight to eat.

Gondhoraj Chicken: The Gondhoraj Chicken was another standout dish. The subtle flavor of Gondhoraj lime infused the chicken beautifully, creating a refreshing and aromatic dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. The chicken was well-cooked, juicy, and had just the right balance of flavors.

What Disappointed:

Unfortunately, apart from the Fish Fry and Gondhoraj Chicken, the rest of the dishes didn’t live up to expectations. The flavors were lackluster, and the cold temperature of the food further diminished the overall taste. I expected more from a restaurant that prides itself on Bengali cuisine, but many of the dishes fell short in terms of taste.

Overall Experience: In conclusion, while Kolkata Rajbari has a few dishes that stand out, my overall experience was underwhelming. The issue with cold food and the inconsistent quality of the dishes left me disappointed. Given the hype surrounding this place, I expected much more. If I were to visit again, it would be solely for the Fish Fry and Gondhoraj Chicken, but I would hope they address the temperature issue...

বলা যেতেই পারে , " পরিবেশনে থাকে যদি চিংড়ি, মাংস ও ভাপা ভেটকির ঝাঁজ....১৬- আনা বাঙালিদের তাতেই স্বর্গরাজ "

BENGALI CUISINE has always been the paramount charisma amongst the majority and that too with an incredible emotion when it comes to imperial NON-VEG as well as VEG delicacies.

Located at 56, Jatindas Road, Lake Terrace, Kalighat, Kolkata - 700 029 [ precisely 2 mins walking distance from JUGAL'S; the road adjacent, taking the first left lane ]

A speciality and endearing ' রাজবাড়ী ' - themed dining restaurant serving elite delicacies from the world of Bengalis' favourite. The motif certainly imparts an impeccable vibe of traditional and nostalgic Rajbari ; decked up with the elegant revolution, since years on all the 3 floors - starting from the ground floor where the accomodation at the entrance is just six with walls having Kolkata's most iconic depiction. The 1st and the 2nd floor being the most phenomenal of all. The first floor delineate the ancient " বৈঠকখানা " রাজবাড়ী accomodation ( 15 approx ) where you can enjoy your meal while seated on the floor accompanied with royal majestic vibe of elements during that time. The 2nd floor comprises the recent-traditonal interiors and architectural designs, the sophisticated seating arrangements ; the noteworthy " খড়খড়ি " windows that just sets apart of having a royal lunch/dinner at this place. This joint carries out wishes to cosset your tastebuds with the authentic and nonpareil Bengali THALI(S).
