The Canteen By Asia House — Restaurant in Kolkata

Recently, I have visited a beautiful and extravagant place at Lake Place road. It's such beautiful that you would love to spend a huge portion of your leisure here. It has very minimalist style and very vibrant ambience. Their small decors and decorative plants make the place neat and organized but beautiful .

Coming to the FOOD we had:

🌕TOFU AND ASIAN GREEN SOUP🌕 This is a light and tasty soup made of greens, mushrooms, and good portion of tofus. It's really delicious and filling. 💎💎

[⚡ Everybody know. If not tofu is basically vegan paneer or vegan cottage cheese in the most simplest word, made of soya milk. Very popular among authentic east and south Asian cuisine

⚡⚡ Try to consume it when warm n hot because that's when the flavour comes out the most.]

🌕 GRILLED THAI SALAD🌕 This is a very authentic Thai salad made of chicken breast grilled and brushed with a tangy sauce. You would love to have this if you are opting for a light snack.

[ ⚡ Don't expect it as a normal salad full of greens and all. It's a quick snack and tasty at its own good]

🌕DRUMS OF HEAVEN🌕 You know I used to heard about the excellent drums of heaven by Asia House. So it was a must try there. And as expected I was not at all disappointed even in a fraction. It was a marvelous. Juicy tasty and absolutely delicious. You would love to have it the more as you can. It's a highly recommended. 💎💎💎

[⚡ I usually don't give 3 diamonds to any dish even after its recommend or very tasty. But I have given this so you know what that means.]

🌕EGG KHAO PAT🌕 This is a very different tasted fried rice I had I like it with gravy of that Korean chicken they served. And it's absolutely good at taste.

🌕 KOREAN CHILLY CHICKEN🌕 This is a very tasty Korean chicken I had. It has rich creamy coconut milk in it. With a tint of tomato puree and full of Asian spices. I love the gravy and I could mug it up as more as they can give me. 💎💎

🌕 HAKKA NOODLES🌕 It is a Hakka noodles with its all authentic flavours we usually get in prepared Asian noodles . I love it because of its simplicity and I actually haven't required any kind of gravy to fill it up. It's tasty at its own. 💎

[⚡ I actually ate it just after they served me. And haven't taken the chicken or fish gravy at all. And I am really satisfied]

🌕 BALINESE SAMBHAL FISH🌕 This is a very different fish dish I came across. It's literally very tasty. Well a little tangy and that's why Sambhal is given for. The coated fried fishes are so soft and juicy and melts as soon as I put it in. A perfect match maker with the fried rice.

[ ⚡ I don't like tanginess in fish dishes with red gravy. So its my personal dot . But if you want me to rate it in general I think it would get the full marks and my friends liked it very much.]

🌕ORANGE DARSAAN🌕 This is that good old Darsaan with Vanilla ice-cream given a sweet twist with orange flavoured syrup in it. It really droolicious. 💎

Overall my experience there was very nice and I would love to go there again with such courteous staff and beautiful ambience. It's a must...

When it comes to authentic south east Asian cuisine remember the name Canteen by Asia house . They have an expertise over chinese , Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai , Korean ,Malaysian cuisine . So when you want to explore different cuisines this is a one stop shop. Kolkatans already have accepted Chinese cuisine with so much love ,now it's time for other South East Asian cuisines to mark it's stand on the food industry of Kolkata holding the hands of Canteen by Asia house .

Located at southern Avenue , Kalighat being the closest metro . This place is small yet nicely decorated with comfy sofas and chairs . Service is exemplary . Staffs are really quick and efficient. But what matters the most is the food and there isn't any glitch that i can accuse in that aspect as well. What we tried are as follows

Tofu noodle soup - A humble soup with sufficient amount of chicken chunks, tofu , boiled noodles , crushed nuts and other secondary elements . I personally don't like tofu much but the soup was good enough for me to crave for more . Korean chilli drums of heaven

Bulgogi chicken : A unheard dish which i tried for the first time , shredded pieces of chicken was grilled with a marination of soya sauce , sesame oil , brown sugar ,garlic and other elements . The dish is of Korean origin and bulgogi literally means fire meat. The dish has a slightly salty , mildly sweet and nutty flavour.

Canteen special chicken momo: One of the finest momo i had in recent times. Good amount of chicken was stuffed inside a thin layer . Cheese was glazing over each momo . It was shallow fried .

After the mouthwatering starters it was time for the main course which had

Nasi goreng : A traditional Indonesian fried rice preparation . Here it was made with lots of spices , chicken , veggies and was topped with a sunny side up as it should be. I definitely loved the flavour combination when i paired the rice with

General tso's chicken : This sweet and mildly spicy chicken preparation has a kick from ginger and garlic . The chicken is deep fried before it is tossed in the sweet and spicy sauce .

Chilly garlic noodles and fish Balinese Sambal : The noodles was probably the least impressive dish off all the geniuses . Although it was good from its own point of view . But the Sambal fish preparation with which i paired this noodles overshadowed it's existence. Chillies from Bali made to use sambal sauce along with cane sugar ,bell peppers turned out to create something extraordinary. The portion of the fish is also noteworthy . This is the one perticular dish that you shouldn't miss when you drop in .

Darsaan and ice cream : Traditional chinese dessert where flour chips are tossed in burnt honey sauce with salt and sesame seeds . It was served with a vanilla ice cream . Its always great to end your meal on a sweet note.

I have tasted so many versions of sweet corn soup so far in my blog. This is a version which I call egg drop sweet corn soup because it has an egg added in it. . ⭕Som Tum(veg) - Interesting name right!! This delicious vegan recipe for Thai Green Papaya Salad is everything you could possibly want from a salad: crunchy, sweet, sour, spicy and salty. Also known as Som Tam, this yummy, healthy salad is sure to put some pep in your step. . ⭕Drums of Heaven Bangkok Chilli - So curious to know about this!!Crispy fried juicy chicken wings on the bone, served with sweet chilli sauce. This really tastes heaven to me 😍❤ . ⭕Korean Chilli Chicken - Not only korean dramas but also this korean chili chicken dish is very delightful.😀❤A kebab always goes down well at a BBQ, and this Korean chicken with sweet, spicy and sticky glaze is our new favourite. Scatter over spring onions to serve. . ⭕Vietnamese Black Pepper Fish - For most of its flavor, this Vietnamese classic relies on sugar and pepper. I love the intense mix of caramel and black pepper that dominates this dish, combined with the saltiness of the fish sauce and the shallots. . The other foods like Burnt Ginger Capsicum Fried Rice & Chilli Garlic Noodles were also very good. I am a desert lover so Darsaan and Ice Cream is at another level for me. They are maintaining proper hygiene and safety protocols. Overall I love this place & will visit again. I'll suggest you guys to go there definitely. You will love...
