UPDATE : SUN, 1 SEPT 2019
We visited Annapoorna Mithai for lunch. ordered two south Indian meals and 1 North Indian meal. We were informed that in North Indian Meal (Thali) there is not paneer butter masala but instead there is chana masala. but we got both and also dal. We specifically ordered salted curd but we got sweet curd. my father is diabetic who can't have sweet items. at the end we ordered Tea without sugar but was served Tea with sugar. server claimed that no sugar was added but it was sweet. overall the experience was good but with poor service. waiters should be more attentive. if they are not focussed and attentive why are they doing this job in the first place? Paneer tikka was good. I would recommend it. Air conditioning was not satisfactory.
Update: Sun, 17 March, 2019
There seems to be improved service and reduced waiting time. Happy with quality of food. Good job! However there was a small incident around 1.45 to 2 PM. pizza got burnt in the Oven and the smoke was all over the hotel. All of us started coughing and there was no ventilation. I hope the owner takes note of this and prevents such an incident again.
SERVICE QUALITY STILL POOR UPDATE : SUN, 30 SEPT 2018
We visited Annapoorna Mithai on Sunday, Sept 30, 2018 to celebrate my mother's birthday. After assurance that service quality will be improved after our last visit and feedback in August I was surprised to find the same poor service quality but the food and ambience was great as usual. I believe the management is ignoring this issue. The food is great so they think that people will continue to visit despite poor service quality. We had to wait 30 mins for our order and the attitude of waiters (servers) was still the same. They don't have the courtesy to even provide us the bill after eating. We had to walk to the cash counter to get the bill after waiting for 15 mins. Whoever is the management please improve your services. Don't ruin your good name because of pride. Be humble. Poor service will only affect your business. It will drive away customers one by one. You may not see it today but many restaurants in Madurai have lost their reputation because of poor service despite good quality food. It's upto you.
-- SERVICE QUALITY DEGRAGED Update : Sun, 12 Aug 2018
We used to love having lunch at this restaurant but after 12th Aug experience we find that service quality is degraded. Supervisor not friendly to customers. My request to management is to maintain your service. Don't ignore loyal customers. There are many other restaurant...
Read moreServings are provided too late supervisors must take better care they change the orders forget orders at times so it's their duty to be good taste wise they are too good (Pucca North Indian or Jain Style however you want to Call) and that's were they get a 3 Star - As said already care is really poor to be improved a Lot (This was my review 4 years back). Today in 2023 Mar 05 visited again as I don't want to visit them because of poor service, but it has improved a bit but I feel the taste has gone down completely not at all satisfied also availability of items was not a good thing at all whatever speciality item we ordered wasn't available. Compared to other North Indian restaurants in town the taste is completely average and too overpriced. Tried a lot of new Sweets as well we didn't find something out of world. Everything was okayish as we expected a lot for the arrangements and because of too much advertisements in Social media. Also saw a post saying how to welcome guest which wasn't done to us also. Before announcing something make sure you do it. Snacks also tasted okay only. I would suggest someother north Indian restaurant like mohan bojanalaya instead as it's far far better in taste, quantity and pricing also. You can't make us pay for your sofas, lights, especially plants. Having continuous bad experiences here I would not comeback but my group wanted to come for the Mango Mania during June 2024 we came tried lots of Mango dishes and regular menu to (pictures added) few of them tasted good and few okayish and few like tandoori Paneer Mango flavor infused was too bad the desserts with Mango flavor went good for us, pink sauce pasta was good, Punjabi Paneer bangara if I am not wrong it too tasted good. The ambience is becoming conjusted I feel they were shooting in a room thus all had to occupy in Main hall so there was waiting as well can have all of them in off season or off time I feel they have improved for us personally but defenitely needs much improvement for...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to Madurai, we had the pleasure of dining at Anna Poorna Mithai, a pure vegetarian restaurant that specializes in North Indian cuisine, chaats, and sweets. Located conveniently in the city, this cozy eatery offers not only great food but also a unique ambiance with a small nursery and decorative pots on the ground floor, adding a refreshing touch of greenery and charm.
We ordered Garlic Naan, Butter Roti, and Methi Paneer. The naans were done to perfection – crisp on the outside with a soft interior, just the way they should be. The butter roti complemented the curry well, and the Methi Paneer stood out as the highlight of the meal. The paneer was incredibly soft and well-cooked, infused with just the right blend of spices and fresh methi leaves, making the dish both flavorful and aromatic.
To end our meal on a sweet note, we tried the Mango Malai Chum Chum, and it turned out to be one of the best desserts we've had in a while. The sweetness was balanced – not overwhelming – allowing the natural flavor of mango to shine through. We also had a Mango Lassi, which was moderately flavored and refreshing, though not as impressive as the dessert.
Overall, Anna Poorna Mithai offers a satisfying vegetarian dining experience in Madurai. The combination of well-prepared dishes, a warm ambiance, and thoughtful presentation makes it a great choice for anyone craving authentic North Indian cuisine. The small nursery and collection of decorative pots also make the visit visually pleasant...
