When I heard Street Food Fest, I was all excited and said I’m going for this one (even with a broken hand). There’s barely anyone who doesn’t like street food. Street food basically is ready to eat food which is super tasty and is also considered as pocket friendly. In this journey of Food Blogging, I’ve been to top notch places which will serve you the fanciest of food but nothing can match the taste of road side chaat, chhole kulche, pav bhaji, vada pav etc.
But if you are a person who loves street food but is always concerned about the hygiene and other things then I have good news for you! 3 Spices is hosting a Street Side Food Fest from 14th January – 28th January 2018, where you’ll get to relish flavours of Street Food across India.
So we started off with a welcome drink called as the Sharbat E Gulabi. Sharbat E Gulabi is made from a rose syrup which is presented in a kulhad. A perfect welcome drink!
Chana Jor Garam – Oye Hoye… Dil khush kar ditta!! Basically chana jor garam is a traditional made out of Bengal grams, finely chopped tomatoes, onions, coriander, sev and sprinkled with some Indian spices like chaat masala, laal mirch powder etc. And to add to the beauty of this dish, a slice of lemon (which is supposed to be squeezed on top). This one was so delicious that I asked for a second helping.
Puneri Dabeli – The dabeli was huge with notes of sweet, spicy and sour flavours. The chutneys used in it show up beautifully and overall it looks like a perfect marriage of ingredients.
Agra se Khasta Kachori Chaat – This was the bomb. I have never eaten a kachori which is so good. I mean just look at it. The basic kachori itself looks so appetizing and serving it in the form of a chaat definitely takes it to the next level. #MustTry #HighlyRecommended.
Varanasi Chatpate Shakarkandi – I am not a fan of shakarkandi (Sweet Potatoes), thus I’d give this one a miss. But if you are a shakarkandi fan then you might want to try it out?
Church Gate ki Chinese Bhel – Who doesn’t like Chinese bhel? Chinese bhel is made from crispy fried noodles and is tossed with different sauces and is topped with freshly chopped spring onion greens. #Recommended.
Purani Delhi ke Chole Kulche – Home style chhole served with baby kulchas is tasty. Loved the flavour of the chhola and the presentation also is super cute.
Kolkata Style Chicken Kathi Roll – Just go ahead and order this one & thank me later! #HighlyRecommended.
Maharashtrian Thali – So our thali consisted off matki watana chi usal, pithla, kombdi cha rassa, loncha and puri. The thali was so filling that I was done for the day. I didn’t want to eat anything. Right from the pithla to the kombdi cha rassa everything was perfect. A special mention to their matki watana chi usal because it was just the way I like it. And here chef Joy has proved it that the food doesn’t have to be spicy to taste good.
Malai Barfi, Pheni and Kheer – All the desserts were mouth watering but I really liked their kheer. The picture doesn’t look very good but who cares when the dish itself tastes heavenly?
A big thank you to Dev, Jayesha, Chef Joy & the entire 3 Spices Team for hosting us.
P.S. The entire staff was dressed according to the theme & they looked super cute...

Oktoberfest is here and has left half the foodies in the biggest conundrum. Navratri and Oktoberfest clashing and no one knows what to do. If you think about it, there are highly interesting long stick like things that are the main attraction for both. I say, hält, and proceed with schnëll for some great biër and food at Double Tree by Hilton. What's the Würst that could happen?
The outdoor section of their restaurant, 3 Spices, has been converted into mini Bavaria, with traditional white and blue flags and staff wearing traditional German attire. The German songs adding to the whole atmosphere.
They have gone to great lengths to acquire very authentic sausages for the festival, imported directly from Germany and served with traditional sides like mustard, sauerkraut and mashed peas. They have Bira Blond and White on tap to go along with it, but I would have loved if they would have kept some German beer or fresh brewed beer from any of the local Pune breweries.
We started of with some in-house baked Pretzels. Incredibly tasty and perfect complement to the beer. The salt crystals and the soft but slightly chewy texture was just perfect. Along with the garlic sauce and salad, made it the perfect starter.
I had the Pork Version of the sausage platter. One Bratwurst and a Chipolate Sausage with sides. They are first cooked in boiling water with spices like clove and rosemary then grilled on charcoal. This makes the sausages super juicy and slightly smoky on the outside. The flavours are very subtle and has none of that overly cured / salty / smoky taste that some sausages have. So you can have a couple of these huge sausages without any issue! I absolutely loved it!
There was some intense unsalted course mustard on the side (to balance out the slight saltiness of the sausage. I would have liked it salted, though). The Sauerkraut was incredible! Marinated in in-house brewed cider with loads of cloves. It had an amazing flavour and was the perfect accompaniment. The German style fried potato was amazing too.
There are chicken sausages available too and I tried the Numberg Sausage, which too was delicious. Again, subtle and really tasty.
Overall I had a great time, the atmosphere and food was just great. It was a privilege to meet Chef Balajee Srinivasan, and his knowledge and stories kept us entertained...
