Hotel Amantran is situated in the heart of Ratnagiri city and can be easily reached following the google maps.
As I always write a detail review and the Pros and Cons about the restaurant will try to cover most of the things in this review.
Pros:-
The hotel service is pretty decent and helpful and the sitting arrangement is good as well.
The owner of the hotel is very down to earth person and welcomes every guest personally and looks after the services too.
Talking about the food we tried Surmai Thali, and Prawns Fry and one solo Pomfret for my little kid.
The instructions given to cook the pomfret was followed and was very well cooked and my kid ate it will full joy.
Me being from Kokan (Malvan/Devgad) have a pure taste of kokani food starting from my homemade seafood cooked by my mom.
The taste of all the items in the plate was good starting from Surmai, the bangda curry and the surmai pickle.
Sole Kadi was tasty and very fresh.
The Ratnagiri style is a bit different and I felt a less coconut is used but the taste is good for a fresher who loves to try different types of kokani dishes.
The service delivery was quick and all the staff was very attentive.
Overall, I would recommend to visit the restaurant if you are in Ratnagiri, I drove from Ganpatipule to the Hotel just to try their food.
Cons:-
The prime drawback of the hotel is the Parking, so if you plan to visit with 2-3 cars with family it will be a difficult task during the peak hours, however the hotel staff is very helpful to give a parking space but again it all depends on the space availability.
I would like to suggest an orange gravy which is the trade mark dish and Kokan’s speciality to be included in Fish Thali.
Prawns fry was more of the covering and less prawns and ideally serving prawns fry with its headshell is not my choice as the cover might upset your stomach, though it’s a marketing gimmick so that the prawns look bigger. (Pics are shared)
Talking about the cost of the thali is on the higher side, to explain the cost fish is kind of staple food in kokan and the hotel being next to the sea coast fish should be pretty cheap if the are purchased during the fish auction. (Lilav)
The cost of a single pomfret was more the Fish Thali which I felt a bit odd, but Pomfret is always served as per catch and availability.
Instead of serving the kokan juice with the thali it can be served as welcome drink and a small portion of Tisrya can be added in the Fish Thali so that people will get to taste multiple varieties in the same fish thali.
Last but not the least, the hotel must definitely work on the washrooms side, as people who travel will first look for rest rooms specially for ladies. I'll
All in all, it was a good experience and I will definitely visit again to try some more special dishes if I visit...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Hotel Amantran, and it was an experience that surpassed all my culinary expectations. This hidden gem of a restaurant offers a cozy and inviting ambiance, perfect for a delightful meal. However, what truly sets Hotel Amantran apart are its spectacular seafood offerings - specifically, the Pomfret Thali, Surmai Thali, and Prawns Thali. From the moment the dishes were presented, it was evident that Hotel Amantran takes great pride in the quality and presentation of their food. Each thali was a masterpiece of flavors and textures, showcasing the freshest seafood paired with a variety of traditional accompaniments that elevated the meal to a whole new level. The Pomfret Thali featured a perfectly cooked Pomfret, marinated and grilled to perfection, offering a delicate balance of spices that enhanced the natural flavors of the fish without overpowering it. The Surmai Thali was equally impressive, with a generous serving of Surmai that was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavors, accompanied by an array of sides that complemented the main dish beautifully. However, the star of the show was the Prawns Thali. The prawns were succulent and cooked to perfection, with a seasoning that was both bold and balanced, leaving a lingering taste of the sea that was simply irresistible. The sides served with the prawns thali were thoughtfully chosen, providing a harmonious blend of flavors that made each bite more enjoyable than the last. The service at Hotel Amantran deserves a special mention. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the dishes they served, making recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. Their passion for food and customer satisfaction was evident in every interaction, adding a personal touch to our meal that made us feel truly valued. In conclusion, Hotel Amantran is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary adventure that offers an unforgettable experience to its patrons. The Pomfret Thali, Surmai Thali, and Prawns Thali are a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality, flavor, and customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Hotel Amantran to anyone looking for an exceptional seafood dining experience. It's a place where every dish tells a story, and I can't wait to go back and explore more...

Visited Amantran restaurant on 27th September (Friday) around 15:20 hours. I’m from agri-koli community and seafood is staple for us. What we ate at this restaurant is something forgettable! Something that’s embarrasses entire of Ratnagiri! How can a coastal town have such a bad seafood restaurant? We were at ganpatipule, and drove all the way to ratnagiri (~50 mins drive) to this restaurant just because of the hype!
Ordered Surmai crab prawn mix thali, Crab lollipop, and Bangda Rava fry.
Prawns - 0/5, 4 prawns were served in the thali which were rava fried and the rava crust was completely burned. Awful!
Summary, only thing in the thali that was good was the Aamras (ready made) and gulab jamun. 1500 INR wasted!
Crab Lollipop 4/5 - good! yet the crust was slightly burned.
Bangda fry - 0/5 - complete disaster. At first the bangda arrived and I broke it down it was completely uncooked inside (happens when you deep fry frozen food). Asked the waiter to change and he promptly did. But what he said stunned me “ bangda kitchen madhe atta ala fresh 10 mins adhi, mhanun cook kartana kaccha rahila” (translation- bangda arrived in our kitchen 10 mins ago, it was so fresh that it was half uncooked, fresh fish takes time to cook”) 😂😂 I just ignored and didn’t respond to his rubbish. Me and my wife were laughing at it! When the replacement arrived, its crust on one side was charred and burned!
Next time ह्या रेस्टोरेंट ने “आमन्त्रण” दिला तरी नहीं जानर! 🙏🏼
Shame that a place like ratnagiri has to offer food so embarrassing like Amantran restaurant has. I’ve never had such a BAD seafood thali anywhere else! And unfortunately it had to be a restaurant which is by the coastline!
I’d rather suggest you goto other ‘Gharguti’ restaurants nearby for the actual konkani taste, this restaurant is...
