Just Bengali Restaurant — Restaurant in Maharashtra

Wow….. simply wow… after such a long time there is finally an authentic Bengali restaurant serving Bengali delicacies with lots of love and care.

We went for a Sunday Lunch. Seeing the restaurant from outside gives you a welcoming feel. Text writing in Bengali …. And as soon as you Enter, the cozy feel and the aroma gives you a feeling, that you are in the right spot.

Well we ordered the fish fry for starter and Luchi Kosha Mangsho and Kochi Pathar Jhol.

The fish fry was diamond cut and one of the best fish fries we had ever in Pune. The kasundi was tangy and gives a perfect balance to the fish.

Then came the Luchi and Mutton er jhol. Uffff….. simply made the Sunday lunch… light, flavourful and The size of the luchi was perfect. The mutton Kosha that followed after this was dark in colour with the perfect blend of spices.

The fish was fresh. Mutton was tender and the curries are not too spicy ( even my kid enjoyed ).

We also ordered Mutton biryani but it was okay. We felt it dry and the mutton could have been slightly tender..

To finish we had an Aam panna and Misti doi. Both were the best to end your Sunday lunch. The Misti doi was vey light and non sticky.

But on top of everything the service and hospitality was top notch. Dibbo was our captain and he perfectly took care of us and our kids.

One of the best Authentic Bengali Cuisines I have had so far outside West Bengal. Every dish is prepared with utmost care taken for Hygeinie and Supreme Quality. Every dish has a different and unique taste with a dash of an aroma and taste that tingles the taste buds and craves to have one more bite. Your belly will be full but mind will ask for more. I had ordered Bashonti Polao, Doi Pona, Chicken Kosha, Mutton Daak Bungalow, Chhanar Dalna and ataar Porota, gurer roshogolla and norom paaker shondesh. This was for an aaiburo bhaat at my place. Every dish was fresh, hot, nice clean package with outstanding taste that surpassed our expectations and definitely made the occassion more funfilled and wonderful. The food was prepared ahead of time so I did not have to keep waiting for the order. Every staff of Just Bengali was so courteous and extremely customer dedicated. Overall food, taste, Hygiene,Quality, Timely delivery, neat packaging, well mannered and well trained staff, all is 10 on 10. I had heard a lot of hype about Just Bengali, but honestly, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. The ambience was fairly average—quite cramped with limited seating, though they do have a separate family section on the first floor.

We placed our order and had to wait quite a while for the starters, only to be surprised when all the food—from starters to the main course—was served together. The taste, unfortunately, lacked the authentic Bengali flavors we were expecting. I also noticed a few other tables facing delays and confusion with their orders. On inquiring, I learned that only two staff members were managing the kitchen dispatch, which left the remaining staff struggling to serve food on time.

Overall, it was just an okay experience—nothing remarkable. The place certainly has scope for improvement, both in terms of service efficiency and delivering true Bengali...
