I had gone to Parsi Darbar with my father and aunt who are super senior citizens .We reached the reception in our own car and were asked to take the lane where guests who were staying at the resort would offload their luggage .As we only wanted to have lunch at Parsi Dhaba ,I asked the security from the start about where to enter from and I was told to follow the lane where other guests staying at the resort would alight from .We waited in this lane for almost half an hour as a family was offloading their luggage as they were to stay at Della resorts .This was a long frustrating wait and being mis guided by the security personnel on the premises was even more annoying .After waiting for almost half an hour in the lane where the guests were offloading their luggage , I was then asked to walk to the cash counter in the pouring rain to pay a cover charge before entering Parsi Dhaba .In the meantime ,I insisted that I sit with my father and aunt in the car as they would need my help. There was no provision made to keep the car waiting while I paid for the cover charge despite repeated requests to the head of security .I found this inconsiderate on the part of the security especially since they knew that I was with a 92 year old father and an 88 year old aunt .Moreover ,one of them who may have been the head of security also said that they were even providing a car to drop us off to the venue as a favor .Excuse me ,it is no favor as the walk to Parsi Dhaba is quite a long one especially for super senior citizens in the pouring rain . At Parsi Dhaba we were not impressed with the food either as there was hardly any salt in the dhansak and the mutton had a strange smell to it which was unpalatable .The dhansak was bland, with strange smelling mutton and not like the dhansak I have eaten in authentic Parsi restaurants .The chicken cutlets we ordered had excessive salt .We weren’t quite impressed with the Patra Macchi either .I paid a bill of Rs 14000/- for 3 cocktails ,3 Patra macchis ,2 plates of cutlets , 2 dhansaks and dessert which included one Lagan Nu custard and 2 caramel custards .I would not mind paying this whopping amount even if one of the dishes was good . Except for the desserts ,none of the dishes were upto mark .To top it off ,we asked for a doggy bag to take home ,in which there should have been 2 pieces of Patra macchi which we hadn’t eaten .When I got back home and opened the doggy bag,I found one piece of a fish head which they don’t even serve when you order this dish .The Patra ni Macchi is never served with the fish head but my doggy bag had a fish head in it and not the pieces we had ordered .This is as good as cheating customers . This experience and the security managing the entry of guests was the worst I have experienced in a long time .Im never going back to this place again especially with...

Parsi Dhaba, Della Adventure Resort, Lonavala
Parsi & Punjabi

Today I'm meeting my old school friend @amarnathhazarika after 13 years. We planned on spending the day checking out the Forts & Caves in & around Lonavala. He is presently settled at Karjat which is at a similar distance as I am to Lonavala.
After exploring the beautiful Lohagad Fort, it was time to eat. They asked me to check out for places & well I knew I won't have access to Parsi food anytime soon, decided on Parsi Dhaba. We were all excited to dine in a Parsi Dhaba.
To cut the story short, we landed up in Della Adventure Resorts, the most swanky resort in town. So mind you this is by no means a Dhaba. There were other restaurants in the same compound. There was a valet service provided so we had to walk towards the restaurant, on our way we noticed it had Rock Rappelling, Bungee Jumping, a Sky High evening restaurant, a horse stable, you could even walk some cute abandoned dogs from their kennel & so on.
We entered the restaurant & it felt high end, especially when you see framed pictures of all the bigwigs from all walks of life like Devender Fadnavis, Sachin Tendulkar, Hrithik Roshan & the likes hung on the wall.
We took a table completely bemused by the events that was unfolding & had a nice giggle about it. The menu had Parsi & Punjabi fare. Prices were in line with the overall ambience of the place.
We ordered Aleti Paleti, Sali Ma Marghi, Mutton Dhansak, a kebab, rumali roti & a pint each of Carlsberg.
The Aleti Paleti arrived first. It was basically liver & gizzards cooked in a tomato & onion base. It was tasty but would have been better if the bread came along at the same time. The Sali Ma Marghi came with a side of extra crispy sali. It was good, so was the Dhanksak with the rice. The meat was tender & falling off the bone. Both dishes carried a tinge of sweetness to them. The kebab was also pretty decent. Quantity of food was pretty generous.
Overall it was a good meal with our steward being a man from Assam doing a very decent job.
