Grapevine is a very cosy restaurant on three levels, including a mezzanine floor and a basement. The smaller 4 seater wrought iron tables are at the basement and ground floor level, and a 10 seater table on the mezzanine. We were greeted by the bartender as we entered. The menu mainly has a number of Parsi dishes like dhansak, patra ni macchi, salli boti mutton, as well as pastas, burgers and pizzas. Though it is an excellent restaurant for the die-hard non vegetarian, one can also have a good choice of veg food too. Prices were reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food. We visited Grapevine on two occasions on our last trip to Mahabaleshwar. Once we tried their Bar-b-q chicken with Mediterranean cheese toast, and both were excellent. Another time we had the Pasta Napolitane and Garlic toast. They serve cocktails and mocktails too, but we had a simple fresh lime soda to go with the food. The service is very courteous. In fact the owner, Mr Raiomand Irani himself came down to make sure we were enjoying the meal. We would definitely love to visit again on our next trip to Mahabaleshwar, and try Raiomand’s Parsi food.

After all the hype on the internet for this place, we decided to give it a try. It is a relatively small place with a single big table on thr top floor for larger groups of around 8-10 and 3-4 small tables for 2-4 each on the lower flower. The ground floor has no tables and has a fountain which was off and the reception/main desk/bar area. We ordered the mutton burger and the four cheese pizza. These weren't bad by any means but not as good as we were expecting, especially considering the price. The burger had a generous amount of coleslaw. The coleslaw was a bit heavy on the Mayo so if you don't like mayo, that's something to keep in mind so you can give them a heads-up. The burger came with a single mutton patty which was pretty good. The fries that accompanied the burger was great. They also serve alcohol at a decent mark-up. Parking will be difficult since it is a narrow lane that leads to thr market. If you're lucky, you'll find a spot, or else just park at the pay and park structure just before the Y junction entrance to the lane. You'll find it on Google maps.

I was very hyped by looking at the reviews online and on YouTube. But very honestly speaking, it was fairly disappointing after i reached there. Firstly the service is mediocre, the guy who was serving us was pretty AMAZING, but there was only one server. The place feels very congested with narrow seating and uncomfortable chairs. When it comes to food, I've had proper Parsee food other places, this restaurant claims to have authentic food, but I've never in my life tasted more bland food. It might come to your taste palette on how you like it, but for an avg guy from Mumbai, you'd not like the taste as such. The restaurant is an amazing place for good pictures, and a good spot for a date. I personally went with my family and didn't have the best time there. Cons : •Bland food •Congested place •Late service •Toilets don't have locks Pros: •Good picture spot •Near the Mahabaleshwar bus station •Has light beer •Friendly server

20th May 2019, Pls read the rude and personal attacks made by the owner in the reply I received after I posted my review abt the restraunt.

If there is any truth in what the anonymous owner has written then I wish to ask him , why are there innumerable reviews over the years about the awful service and the management.

I wish he could take constructive criticism and use it to his benefit and win his constomers over instead of making his lack of communicative competence public.

16th May 2019. We were so excited to have our dinner at grapewine cause we had enjoyed the food in our last visit to Mahabe. We were there by 7.45pm and were denied a table for 3 on the upper floor cuse its for 5 people and were asked to either sit in the basement area or outside on the street. The basement feels closterphohic as we had eated there earlier and the street with cars polluting the air and people smoking outside was not an option. We even requested that we have a 2 year old with us pls let us sit upstairs but we were denied stating that the upper floor is only for a group or a large croud, that may be true but when the restaurant is Empty how can one deny a customer a preferred place with good reason. Then they stated that a large group is coming for dinner at 8.30 and that's why they can't allow us to sit up stairs. The manager Gangaram was very rude and is not fit to be in the service industry so we called for the ower just to bring it to his notice, i even told him that we have read bad reviews abt the service and the attitude of the staff on the contrary i was told that im making an issue though i was polite, he even said shold i cut my table for 5 to accommodate u, that was said in such bad taste we just thought it's best to move out and NEVER set foot in this place. With this arrogant attitude im sorry this place may be charming and serve good food but will not not last too long. Rather unfortunate for them we then decided to have dinner at Evershine Keys and had one of the most beautiful,...

One can only get an opportunity to review the food at a restaurant if one gets an "opportunity" to be served . I have seen several good restaurants shut shop as they served extremely good food combined with horrid customer service. A few of us arrived here kids n all on a rainy Saturday afternoon to be literally shooed away by an extremely arrogant manager. He just wouldn't listen and literally asked us to not keep any hopes of getting a table. Infact there was a nice grin on his face when we said we shall put this up on the web ,as if to say we don't really give a damn. Well maybe you don't but I surely will always pass on this feedback to every person known or unknown visiting Mahabaleshwar. Couldnt find an option to respond to your response ( the owner) and hence responding as an edit ..I never commented on the quality of your food . I don't have the right to because I never tasted it . I'm sure it's very good as vouched by a lot of people..well yes I have taken it personally because no matter how well you talk about your manager my opinion would still stay the same because whether you like it or not we were at the receiving edge.neverthless you have all the rights to defend your property and there's nothing wrong in it. All I would say is please try and be a little more courteous even when situations are not in your favour.. thanks for responding .. Much appreciated and wish ur establishment all...

When we approached the restaurant, my father's reaction was one of disgust because it looks so shabby on the outside. The inside is quaint but not conducive to good service. Apart from the two tables on the road, all other seating is either above or below the ground level.

We ordered the keema pav and a veggie delight pizza (with additional mushroom). Both were very good, flavorwise, but the price was ridiculous. Rs. 80 for additional mushroom, and I could literally count and tell you that they used exactly 2 mushrooms. Next time I'll bring my own mushrooms (250g cost ~Rs. 45) and ask them to add it. Heck. I'll even cut it and give it to them. This markup is ridiculous. 1L water they marked up 100%. The keema pav was 2 pavs with about 4Tbsp of Keema. It was the most expensive item we bought at Rs. 610.

I'll be honest. The food was good. But the price is so ridiculously high for the quantity and quality of food.

Service was not great. It took me 15 minutes to wave down a server to ask them for the bill. And yes, I called out multiple times. That being said, the restaurant itself was fairly clean inside (a stark opposite of...
