Rahi Shivsagar is located right on the main market and is part of the Rahi Plaza Hotel. It is right opposite the ST Bus Stand and visible while roaming the streets.
We have been visiting this restaurant for almost a decade now, and though there have been some changes, the taste of the food still remains fantastic. This time, we ordered the Maharashtrian thali and Pithla Bhakri thali. The pithla bhakri thali was one of the most amazing ones I have had. The pithla was made fresh and was served piping hot. Also, they ensured only jeera and curry leaves were added since I like my pithla to be plain. The bhakri was made from Jowar, soft, and perfectly complemented the pithla. It was also given with a papad, salad, and chilly groundnut thecha. The whole thali was brilliant, and each item was delicious to eat.
The Maharashtrian thali had Stuffed brinjal, dal, rice, chole, salad, sewai kheer, chapati, papad, and some pickle. The stuffed brinjal was delicious, with pieces of brinjal stuffed with spices and cooked in the delicious orange gravy. The chole was well cooked and soft, though slightly spicier. The dal was surprisingly good because it was thick and not watery. The sevai kheer was sweet and hot, indicating it was made fresh.
The only problem we faced was with the service. It is incredibly sluggish. It might have been due to the large number of people in the restaurant; however, it took almost 40 minutes to get both the thalis to our table, which was very high. But the restaurant is well maintained and clean, and the food...

I have rated 1 star but I wish there was an option to rate 0 or negatively.
This restaurant is located in Mahabaleshwar Main Market and also offers substandard accomodation. There is no parking space available here. The staff here is extremely rude, unprofessional and uncourteous. Now coming to the food, the taste is extremely pathetic. You will only find loads of garam masala spices mixed in most dishes. This restaurant doesn't include onions and tomatoes in any of its dishes apparently because of high prices...😁 although most of the dishes here are priced pretty high... portion size is barely enough for one person only. So if you are going in groups then you will have to order each dish per person. Just avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of other decent good pure vegetarian restaurant around and you should definitely try those. I wasted ₹775 for lunch here and request you not to...
Read moreRahi Shivsagar is actually a 2-in-1 restaurant, Rahi and Shivsagar, located close to the Ambedkar statue in Mahabaleshwar market. Shivsagar section is a vegetarian restaurant serving all types of thali meals from different regions of India including Gujarati, Maharashtrian, South Indian, Punjabi and Special (with a sweet dish). They also serve a variety of snacks and breakfast dishes like dosa, idli and wadas. Rahi section serves the strawberry milkshakes and ice-creams. I ordered a Gujarati Thali and it was quite tasty and filling. It had 3 chapatis, a dry sabji, a gravy potato dish, a lentil gravy, sweet dal, rasam, rice, papad and a sweet kheer dish. My wife had a special pav bhaji. Later we ordered a strawberry milkshake from Rahi section of the restaurant. We had to pay separately for both the sections. Prices were on the higher side....
