We were visiting Up South again after about a year or so, but unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing.
At this restaurant, food is usually ordered through a token system. However, while we were still going through the menu, a waiter came to our table and asked for our order. Even though we knew it was a token system, we thought the process might have changed, so we gave the order to him. The food was served, and we began eating peacefully.
In the middle of our meal, a waitress/billing counter lady suddenly came over and, in a rude manner, started questioning us about what we had ordered, asking for invoice and receipt details. We explained that we had already given the order to the waiter and were simply eating what was served. But she interrupted us again, insisting we tell her which items we had ordered. This spoiled the dining experience completely.
We told her politely that it was not the right way to disturb customers during their meal, but she brushed it off saying she was “just asking for details.” Later, at the billing counter, she offered complimentary coffee as an apology. We refused, because after such a rude experience, it did not feel right to accept something complimentary. We were not looking for free coffee — we expected basic courtesy and respect. She then said the waiter (who took the order first) was new, but as an experienced staff member herself, she should have known how to handle such situations professionally.
Everything was happening when the manager / their billing counter Sir was present in the restaurant.
On top of that, the food itself was not good and fell below expectations.
Overall, both the food and service were disappointing. This restaurant really needs to improve not only the taste but also the way staff...

I have visited countless South Indian restaurants over the years, but this was by far the most unpleasant experience. From the moment I walked in, it was clear dine-in customers are treated like an afterthought. The staff’s attention was entirely on packing and sending online delivery orders, while people sitting in the restaurant were ignored.
What shocked me most was the blatant bias — they seemed to prioritise serving people based on how they were dressed. I watched multiple customers who came after me receive their food much faster, while I sat waiting endlessly.
I ordered a ghee Mysore masala dosa and a ghee onion tomato utthapam. After a frustratingly long wait, the dosa was just average, and the utthapam was burnt. No apology, no attempt to replace it, just dropped on the table like it was fine to serve burnt food.
If you value good service, fair treatment, and edible food, avoid this place at all costs. They might do well with online orders, but for dine-in customers — especially if you don’t “look” the way they like — expect the worst. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to spend their money somewhere they’ll be treated...
Read moreBeing South Indian food lovers we had been visiting this place since the time it started The early days were really good, be it the quality of food, staffs , services , atmosphere everything was 10 on 10 and this place used to be extremely crowded ( This was all way before COVID hit us all ) but later on the owners changed and starting from the food quality to service all deteriorated as a result we purposefully started avoiding this restaurant .. 👎🏼 But 2 days back when we were in Wakad we gave it a try again after almost a year and we found things have pretty much improved 🙂Though we had to avoid a wide range of dishes because they are mostly made of Ghee and being Vegans Ghee is a no no thing for us .. (but this has nothing to do with the restaurant)✅ Now the food quality, taste has really really improved, the guy in the counter Mr. Malik was patient and courteous enough while taking orders but the only thing I felt as an issue is the quantity of the food 😐 Compared to my previous experience I felt there is a little adjustment done in terms of quantity.. other than that I feel Upsouth ( Wakad ) can again get it's...
