Nat's Family Restaurant has been standing in the same spot for almost 2 decades, or perhaps even more. I visited it a long long time ago & I thought it was high time I pay my respects to this place by having lunch here

I entered inside to a vaguely familiar setting with a wall adorned with beautiful old photos of Shillong, reminisce of an old British Hill Station.

I took my seat & there were a few tables occupied. I had a look at the menu & there was no option for a combo meal & since I was alone, I didn't want to over order. So I stuck with the safest bet, noodles or what Shillongites fondly call as Chow. I did not want the regular Pork or Chicken chow, & since my tummy was acting up in the morning, I wanted to stay away from dishes like Schezwan & the likes. So I ordered myself a plate of Prawn Chow.

The order came within 15mins. It was the biggest plate of noodles I've ever seen or was served in any restaurant before. It was a plain normal vegetable chow with about 20 small pieces of batter fried prawns cooked separately & then placed on top of the chow along with chopped spring onions. The noodles themselves were thin but not very oily. The combination between the prawns & noodles simply worked & since it was pretty plain, it also sat well with my tummy. Infact even I was surprised that I could finish each & every strand of the noodles.

I stood up & left knowing that even after all these years, this place still serves good hearty wholesome food.

I absolutely love this place. The Chinese food here is so damn good. I have eaten almost all of the special varieties of noodles in the menu. If u take the veg version of the noodles and combine it with some curry its enough for 2 and will leave u content.
