The interiors are vibrant, with wooden furniture and colourful upholstery. In an era of minimalism, there is just too much going on with respect to the finishes and colours, making it a complete mish-mash; from a design point of view. I personally felt this as a non-vegetarian’s paradise, as the vegetarian dishes didn’t appeal as much, to opt for in a buffet. MOCKTAILS The downside to their refreshing mocktails, is that it is separately charged. 1. Berry Sweetheart Honey & cranberry based, this was the best mocktail of all that we had that night, with a perfect ratio of all its ingredients. 2. Kiwi Margarita Giving us major brainfreeze, this tall margarita glass had a very subtle flavor of kiwi. A little more flavor would have made it even better. 3.Blue Lagoon A very generic mocktail, this one had excessive syrup as compared to the sprite. 4. Fruit beer: Available in strawberry, cranberry & ginger flavours. We tried the strawberry one and loved in! FOOD NUKKAD CHAAT They have a live counter for chaat, as well as for jalebi & ice cream. They serve it on your table as well, if you would prefer that. 1.Pani Puri We tried all 4 flavours of pani puri, flavours which were unheard of previously: -Normal:Our regular pani puri, a perfect combination of sweet, spicy and tangy; bursting with flavours within the crispy thin puri balls. -Mango -Cranberry Both these flavours were quite odd, initially hesitant to try, but they were different: you can call it fruity pani puri and there is just a very light flavor of mango & cranberry syrup in the water. -Chocolate: This was disastrous. Pani puri dipped in bitter, slightly chocolaty water. Absolute no. STARTERS 1.Ping Pong Bruschetta Mushroom & cheese, topped with sliced red bell pepper. The bread was crispy, and the topping was a basic cheese and mushroom topping. 2.Crispy corn Crispy corn in black pepper flavor was the favourite of the vegetarian starters. 3. Cajun spiced potatoes Potato tikkis, topped with Cajun sauce. My sister loved this the most! 3.Badami Mutton Seekh Minced meat kebabs which were well spiced and well cooked. I couldn’t really taste a “badami” flavor though. Quite spicy as well. 4. Barbeque Chicken Wings Cooked in a tangy, sweet barbeque sauce, the chicken was tender and the overall sauce delicious. ON GRILL Due to the on-grill facility, the tables are broad and conversations across it is quite a task. 5. Chatpata Tandoori Aloo A very simple and bland dish, with not suffient piquancy. 6. Tandoori Paneer Again, an extremely spicy version of the paneer tikka, was good but not as enjoyable as I normally find it. 7. Smokey Mushrooms The marinade did not seep into the mushrooms, making it quite bland and no fun. 8. Russian Pineapple Though the taste was decent, I don’t think the combination quite worked the way it was supposed to. 9. Kasundi Machli Not heavily flavoured, this was a decent starter. 10. Chilli Garlic Prawns Though the dish on an overall taste was decent, chilli garlic prawns is something I expected with more punch. 11. Rangeela Chicken The chicken in every form was nailed. It was soft and tender inside, with every bite flavourful. MAIN COURSE There was a generous spread of main course dishes, in veg and non-veg alike; quite enticing as well. DESSERTS Small versions of these desserts were available; the litchi panacotta had a very weird taste, and the angoori gulab jamun was a little hard, the lemon chocolate tart & chocolate éclair was average, both the chocolate pastry’s really good whereas the firni was completely runny and tasted more like kheer. NUKKAD JALEBI A live jalebi counter, which served 2 types of jalebis; the normal jalebi and the chocolate jalebi. The jalebi was impeccable, with its perfect crispiness and adequate sweetness. ICE-CREAM COUNTER We tried the cookies and cream flavor, and I must say it surpassed my expectations. On an overall note, most of the non-vegetarian dishes were quite spicy for my palate, though my accompanying companions enjoyed it and felt that this amount of spiciness is extremely essential in meat.

Craving for a buffet, we skimmed through the options on Zomato and Barbeque Central caught our eye, with their special discount. As fans of grills, we didn't look any further and made our way to Goregaon for lunch. It was predictably empty, being a Monday and we picked a seat near the AC as Mumbai's sweltering heat was raising the curtains on its first act. With the grill taking time to warm-up, we were offered the off-the-grill starters first. Fries, Veg Tikki, Spicy Corn, Chicken Wings, Seekh Kebab and Cajun Potato were served in quick succession, and none of them disappointed. The corn and the potato were my pick of the lot, while the wings were a close third. With no alcohol on the menu, we opted for a couple of mocktails, Kiwi Tango and Kala Khatta Chuski. I particularly enjoyed the former, though both, to my liking, didn't have too much ice, leaving more space in the glass for the beverage. By now the grill was slotted in, and the coals in it were glowing red hot. The skewers arrived full of chicken, fish and prawns, and we attacked them without delay, not wanting them to burn out on the grill. The prawns were just about average, no great taste or flavour to them, but the chicken and fish were excellent, and we ended up having multiple rounds. Amongst the veg skewers only the watermelon sounded interesting, so we had that but it was nothing to write about. Just plain round watermelon pieces with no chaat or any dressing, felt weird to pop hot watermelon in the mouth. We now shifted our attention to the mains, and our choice was Chicken Biryani with egg gravy (??), the name of the dish slips from the grasp of my memory. Their spices were perfectly complimentary to each other, also the meat was quite tender, and I ended up having a second serving. Desserts were the final stage of course, and they turned out to be the best part of the meal. Chocolate Balls, Kiwi Pastry, Gulab Jamun and Phirni found place on my plate, each one lip-smackingly delectable. The Gulab Jamun was simply amazing, and the Phirni must rank as the best I have ever had. After repeating these two, we wrapped up our meal. While our bill was being prepared I went to the washroom and that is when this visit turned sour. There were 2 WC cubicles in the men's washroom and both were unfit for use. The first WC had some excreta unflushed, the blame lies on some uncouth patron or member of the staff, and there's probably no way to know who's the guilty party. The WC in the second cubicle was clean, but the basin was absolutely disgusting, filled with excreta/vomit I don't know what (was too revolted to take any pics of it). Whatever the contamination was, it had dried out, indicating that the basin had been soiled many hours ago, a failure on the restaurant's part as they should've checked and cleaned the washrooms before opening for the day. I brought it to the attention of the staff, who apologized for the inconvenience. By then my friend had already paid the bill and we exited the restaurant on a terribly disappointing note. To sum up then, Barbeque Central serves a largely sumptuous smorgasbord, the veg starters and desserts being especially fabulous. Given the special discount, you would struggle to find a better value for money buffet, but would you really visit a place with such a poor hygiene quotient?

Chilli Garlic Prawns Though the dish on an overall taste was decent, chilli garlic prawns is something I expected with more punch.

On an overall note, most of the non-vegetarian dishes were quite spicy for my palate, though my accompanying companions enjoyed it and felt that this amount of spiciness is extremely...

Given the special discount, you would struggle to find a better value for money buffet, but would you really visit a place with such a poor...
