Bhagwati Veg Restaurant (Charkop Kandivali West) — Restaurant in Mumbai

Very old and reputed restaurant of Charkop, however little things that matter are not in place. I'll explain what I mean by that.

We went there for lunch on a weekday.

Pros: We instantly got a good place to sit.

The vibe of the restaurant was very familiar, think of any other family restaurant with air condition run by a south indian in your neighborhood.

The food was good, not great but good, quantity was sufficient.

The staff was friendly and polite.

Cons: Staff issues- We ordered two Masala papad(tasted very average) before lunch could arrive. While we were enjoying our little bites of semi crispy papad, the guy who serves came in with main course and started shifting, distributing empty plates & fork on the table. We had to quickly finish our papad in order for "Mr. Hurry Hurry" to accommodate other plates.

The other little problem we faced was that amongst 8 to 10 tables and peak time for lunch, they only had one guy taking orders from all the tables. Due to that, we had to literally wave & sometimes get up and call the guy to get his attention to order to call him.

We ordered Kaju Masala and Veg Peshawari for "sabji"and Butter Roti, Garlic Naan and Butter Kulcha to go with it. I, specifically asked the guy to get soft naan(considering my post root canal tooth) however the Naan was not soft. Infact, it was so hard and extra chewy that I had to leave more than half of it.

Finally, Jeera Rice and Dal tadka that we ordered were just about "okay".

Biggest Con: Food here is very expensive. If they want to charge thrice the average price, then they should even provide such service, such high level of quality in food and better taste. That, in my opinion was missing.

Saviour: Among all this, the saviour was Masala Chaas( Buttermilk) we had in the end. Though, I follow vegan diet as much as possible, I took a sip of this amazing Masala Chaas and trust me it...

Extremely Disappointed – Quality Has Dropped Miserably

I’ve been ordering from Bhagwati Hotel, Charkop Kandivali West, for years now, but the recent experiences have been absolutely pathetic. I ordered Idli Sambhar and Dal Fry, and the quality was beyond unacceptable.

The sambhar looked third-class – the color itself was off-putting, and it didn’t even taste remotely fresh. The dal fry? Honestly, it was equivalent to drainage water. I even found random pieces of garlic and cloves that looked like they were picked out of the trash – and the foul smell was unbearable.

It’s sad to see how a hotel that once served decent food has now degraded to such an extent. This isn’t just one bad day either – for the past 2–4 times, the food has consistently been served in this pathetic way. Really disappointed and won’t be ordering again until there’s a serious improvement.

Instead, customer should order now fro. SAROVAR RESTAURANT & Delicacy Restaurant through Zomato; especially people of Charkop, Kandivali-(W)

I visited this place with my friends for dinner and chose to sit inside the AC dining area. We picked a table we liked, but one of the staff members came over and didn’t allow us to sit there — instead, they asked us to move to another table. This really didn’t make sense, as both tables had the same number of chairs and there was no reservation on the one we wanted.

We stayed for about 1.5 hours, but throughout the time, the service was slow. Even when we called the staff, they took a long time to respond, and the restaurant wasn’t even crowded. It felt like they simply chose not to listen. Also, we asked them to serve starter first followed by main course. But they brought everything together.
