Chai Pe Charcha — Restaurant in Mumbai

This review is for a delivery experience with the Prabhadevi branch of Chai Pe Charcha.

Since the 2014 General Elections, Chai Pe Charcha has become a buzz word. It coined / designed basically as a tool to coonect with the people and over a drink which is India’s 2nd most preferred beverage; CHAI or TEA.

Going by the same logic, this chain of Tea Cafe, Chai Pe Charcha, was also founded to extend the same idea of creating a space where people could have a goof time over some cups of Tea. It has expanded to 5 outlets since its inception in Nov 2015.

Here’s my take on the dishes I had ordered from here:

ALL DAY BREAKFAST COMBO [INR 155] A breakfast combo comprises of Poha / Upma or Sabudana Khichdi with Regular / Adrak or Masala Chai and Bun Maska. I chose the following:

UPMA The Upma was decent enough and was served sufficiently hot even after a 10-12 minute journey from the kitchen to the delivery address. However it could have been better, I found that onions used were less than then required which give it a slight sweet flavor.

REGULAR CHAI The Chai tasted pretty ordinary, the flavor of “The Chai” was missing.The aroma of tea leaf, the flavor derived by optimum boiling of all the ingredients and the resultant taste was missing. Actually, while pacing the order I didn’t get an option to select from the option mentioned in the menu. Also the menu stated that Bun Maska would be served as a part of the Combo but what was served, a single piece of Rusk. This was a reason for disappointment as what was promised wasn’t delivered.

SAMOSA SANDWICH [INR 95] A lovely innovation which was delightful to consume. 2 slices of bread were slathered with a spicy green chutney and a crunchy Samosa was stuffed in it and toasted till it was crisp. The Samosa was stuffed with a flavourful stuffing with the right quantum of spices. The sandwich was served with a tangy-sweet brown chutney and spicy green chutney. RECOMMEDED

ALOO PYAAZ PARATHA [INR 95] Whole Wheat Roti was filled to the edge with a stuffing of boiled & mashed potatoes and finely chopped onions. Finely chopped onions were fried and tossed with whole spices like Ajawain & Jeera. The whole spices lent a wonderful flavor to the Paratha, making it delectable. It was served with a side of a lovely raw mango pickle & dahi. RECOMMENDED

MOOLI PARATHA [INR 95] This was my first attempt at trying a Mooli Paratha. I was always skeptical of the the pungent flavor & after taste. But the Paratha in question was so nicely cooked in the spices that the pungency was nullified. A lovely treat for the taste buds; served with raw mango pickle and dahi. RECOMMENDED

The delivery was effected on time and made without any annoyances.

Hello guys so m back today with an amazing place for you all to have your precious time. Chai pe Charcha is most rated and a place which is to amazing to spend your time and money.

The best place to spend your time and chit chat with your friends and family for a change. The feel this place gives is indescribeable. Charcha karna hai to chai pe ke karo and karte he jaoo😂❤️❤️

The food here is very amazing tasty and mouth filling all at the same time. The ambience is pretty cool with the quotes written on the walls.

The chilly cheese corn sandwich One of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted loaded with cheese and corn and capsicum pieces inside it gives a very good taste with mayonnaise.

Kesariya chai and hot chocolate milk. Chai was very tasty and sweet with the kesar over it gave a very tasty Sense in my mouth. Hot chocolate milk was very fresh and tasty.

Overloaded cheese Maggie. Maggie with lots of cheese what else do you want!! The best one of all. No need to describe❤️✨

Cheese paratha. The most tastiest paratha of my life loaded with cheese inside and outside . Wow that was the most cheesiest and the awesome paratha of my life.

Maggie pakoda. Maggie pakoda was basically a onion pakoda with Maggie in it and was literally very very tasty and was served with good quantity.

CHAI PE CHARCHA ..... what you want more than a discussion with a cup of tea and rusk toast. its location is well fitted for it as most of the corporate offices are located nearby. The interior of the cafe is amazingly done. It gives a sense of chai and the charcha. Although the sitting arangement is little off as only 4 tables are available. The variety of food is mainly concentrated on a vegetarian food style and mainly the menu is as per brunch. Dishes are mainly comprised of cheese and chilly so if your on diet is definety your cheat day! Cheese chilly corn sandwich, cheese chilly corn paratha , chesse overloaded maggie , panner and aloo paratha are the dishes to look out for. HOWEVER the serving time is about more than 25 min. also the staff is not so co-operative . Now the important part that is the CHAI (tea) the heart of the matter . There's a variety of chai available (some important mentions- irani chai, charcha special and kesar chai) . (IMPORTANT- IF YOU HAVE ORDERED TEA PLEASE REMEMBER TO ADD SUGAR .
