I recently had the pleasure of dining at Delhi Se Restaurant in Chembur, and I must say it was a delightful experience. As a North Indian who has spent a significant amount of time in Punjab, I was in search of authentic flavors that could transport me back to the heart of North India. Delhi Se Restaurant did not disappoint.
I ordered the Chole Bhature and the Special Kulcha, two classic North Indian dishes that hold a special place in my heart. The moment the plates arrived at my table, I was greeted by the aroma of spices that instantly brought back memories of my time in Punjab. The taste was incredibly authentic, just like the dishes I used to savor back in the North. The chole (spiced chickpeas) were perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and had the right balance of spices. The bhature (deep-fried bread) were fluffy, yet crispy, and complemented the chole perfectly. The special kulcha was stuffed with a flavorful filling and had a delightful combination of textures and tastes.
Though there was a wait time of around 30 minutes, I can confidently say that it was well worth it. The freshness and quality of the food made the wait insignificant. Moreover, it was a testament to the popularity of Delhi Se Restaurant and the demand for their delicious offerings.
The owners of Delhi Se Restaurant were a delightful couple who made the dining experience even more enjoyable. They were sweet, helpful, and genuinely passionate about their food. Their warm hospitality added a personal touch to the overall experience and made me feel right at home.
The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with comfortable seating and tasteful decor that showcased elements of North Indian culture. The staff members were attentive and provided excellent service throughout my visit.
In conclusion, Delhi Se Restaurant in Chembur is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic North Indian cuisine. The Chole Bhature and Special Kulcha were mouth-watering and reminiscent of the flavors I experienced during my time in Punjab. Despite the wait time, the delicious food, warm hospitality of the owners, and overall dining experience made it all worthwhile. I highly recommend visiting Delhi Se Restaurant to satisfy your cravings for a taste of...

Read moreMake way for another overrated 'trending' place in Bombay/Mumbai.
This city is full of places which people & the internet raves about and swears by, but more often than not, they are disappointing.
Apart from Japanese food & salads, I have not come across amazing restaurants which could be comparable with what you get at Delhi and Bangalore. Maharashtrian (Malwan & Konkan) style sea food obviously is good at multiple places. Rest of Maharashtra although is better at that too. Pune, Malvan and even Satara.
Now coming to Delhi Se, it's located in a bad neighborhood which has traffic and not so pleasant surroundings. The 'to die for' chhole bhature here is worse than what you would get at any random local famous eatery or Street joint in Delhi. I am not even getting into comparison with Amritsar and hidden gems like Karnal.
The spice wasn't cooked properly which leaves some bitterness in the mouth, Bhatura was freshly deep-fried but lacked texture and taste. The dough felt more like freshly made dough without any curd and other things in it. And chhole was below average. The smell, the spice, the taste, everything was lacking. It was a like a Chinese copy of iPhone, if you have seen one. Google it, if you haven't.
There is nothing to write about the place either in terms of ambience, which I wasn't expecting either so just let that be. It's not great for sure.
All in all, it's not worth the ride to that place. And it's even more overrated than some places in south Mumbai for North Indian chicken dishes. (no prizes for...
