Revisited Sunny Lunch Home at Shell colony Chembur within a monthāthis time focusing mostly on seafood. Since fresh catch isn't available during the monsoons (as fishermen arenāt allowed to venture deep into the sea due to safety concerns), we settled for the "ice wala" fish.
Our spread included Fish Moileeāa coconut-based white gravy with pepper and some spices, crispy fried silver fish, Rawas fry Kerala-style mutton sukka, and Paneer Tikka Masala. These were served with appam, idiyappam, Kerala parotta, red rice, white rice, and lots of extra fish curry on the side. Washdowns included goti jeera soda and chaas.
rapped up with a sweet ending: gatti or adda (a traditional steamed dessert made of rice, coconut, and jaggery in turmeric leaves), in-house jackfruit ice cream which was too good , a unique kaju katli (again very good and innovative ), and mango ice cream (just about okay). They had gulab jamun ice cream too but we didn't try that
All in all, a sumptuous and satisfying dinnerāat an average cost of ā¹500 per person.
Canāt wait for Shravan and Ganpati to be over so we can revisit and try the same dishes againāwith fresh fish this time...until then stay well and be happy and in love...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI read review and visted this place. I am a Malayali. ...through out my life I never ate one parotta for Rs.50/- they are really very over priced and services is too slow. Food quantity is too less. Over priced means just throat cutting pricing. If you order a meal it should be unlimited rice and side dishes. This guys charge a lot and limited. Please don't follow the previous reviews and visit this saddy place. To keep the shop filled they serve very slow and you need to wait for at least 15 minutes for bill. At last when you are done with the food the waiter serve you with pickle set and a smile to get tips. Total stupid place. Food is also not great I am sure the above reviews are by the owners itself. Try to visit madeena hotel in mahim, sneha, fountain plaza, taste of kerala, deluxe, benzy hotel, bombay hotel in Fort area. They are the ones with with ethics and reasonable pricing. Sunny hotel...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place has a problem of charging very high premium for sub-standard food.
The waiters aren't very informative and quote lower prices for products that are not available on the menu. For example, a certain fish dish (which was fried in sub-standard oil) cost 250 rupees while the waiter informed us that the price was only 150. The bill took us by surprise due to these factual inconsistencies.
Appam is also sub-standard and very sticky. It is by no means an authentic Kerala restaurant. The place is a scam in the name of a restaurant.
However, to their credit, the chicken dishes are average and not as disappointing as the other dishes.
I will rate the restaurant 1/5. I advise the readers of this review to not visit this place ever. In case you decide to visit, ask for the correct price of the...
