I have been a frequent customer here, must've spent 15-20k here till date. But now I feel very unwelcome and won't be visiting anymore. I visited on 7th August with a friend for a quick munch at around 8pm, the restaurant was totally empty. I wanted to introduce truffle fries to my friend since I believe they are really good here. We ordered truffle fries, they fried were double fried, full of oil and very hard. I quietly eat the less oily ones as I didn't want to complain and ruin the atmosphere. Soon it became too oily to bear and I informed the waiter. He treated us as though this was all an act for free food. He told us we won't be getting a replacement since we've eaten most of it, I agreed and asked him to at least give me the amount equal to what's there in the plate. They took 30 mins to do that. When I tried to ask for the dip no waiter was coming over and was ignoring us. Soon our waiter came and when he returned with the dip he whacked the bowl on the table and started walking away. I didn't mind even that, I instead stopped him and thanked him for replacing it and explaining that they were genuinely oily fries. He reluctantly agreed and walked off. I understood we were being treated as freeloaders. We ordered an alchoholic drink we didn't even NEED, just so they understand we aren't here for free food and can spend. I was already being treated sub-par to the other customers, waiters were ignoring our table. I was still fine with that also. But then when we were quietly eaten, inside of an hour (around 9pm) the restaurant got full. Soon a new waiter comes to our table as asks us to move as a family wants our 4 seat table? Mind you, my food just arrived not long go. We came early so we can sit comfortably side to side and talk. I was meeting a friend after a long time and it was an important meet for me. I do not lose my right to a comfortable table just because a bigger group came now, that's the reason you should go early to a restaurant. Do you mean to say unless I am in a group of 3-4, I can't sit at a 4 seat table even if I go early? And does that mean if I am in group of 3-5 people, I have the right to make other people get up? How was my dinner experience less important then their dinner experience? Sure I was buying food for 2 people only. But I was a regular customer, and that's how my expenses added up. That family might not visit again. And I won't be either now. Back on my table, I stood up, chugged my drink while standing up, paid the bill and I left. I informed them my dining experience was not good and got a very lukewarm response. I also had to apologise to my friend who felt unwelcome at this new restaurant, which I recommended to here.
This is not the first time I have been discriminated against at Jamjar, another time I came in with a friend for a big brunch and they were not letting us sit on a 4 seat table and I hand to literally make them understand that we will order ATLEAST 5 dishes and literally the 2 seat table is not big enough for the plates. This is all a very bad experience for me since they label customers as small spenders or big spenders which I could no...
Read moreAfter a long trip, a hectic month the only thing the #hungryman needed was a good, fine relaxing meal. A place where I did not have to be in a hurry, good music, pleasant company and some amazing food. With so many conditions, there wasn't much I could opt for in Mumbai. A very few places in Mumbai have something to offer with so many benefits! But the choices rolled down and the place I landed up at was #Jamjar Diner at Versova Andheri. Straight down Yari Road with some circles around a few buildings I finally located the outlet by checking with the outlet, where they were exactly located. The ambiance is just raw and perfect. The white walls, high tables and the jukebox by the stairs make it a perfect set up for to help us form a first opinion. With the stairs taking you to a floor above be prepared to be surprised with the quirky ambiance set up and the terrace seating options too. Coming to my prime objective after choosing to sit outdoor I finally rushed to order some food. As described my state of mind, I started to call for some Long Island Iced Tea, popcorn chicken and a Feta Cheese Salad with Fresh Fruits. Not taking long as the food arrived I was happy to see the Salad however the quantity of a Long Island Pitcher depressed me while the pop corn chicken looked crisp and delicious. While the beverage was average the salad failed to impress my taste buds. Not risking more, I called for some Nachos and some French Fries. While the Nachos were good with an interestingly different mix of the beans, the fries were also well fried and crisp. Topping it up I called for a Spinach & Mushroom stuffed Chicken. Now this is a dish that won my heart. Well cooked Chicken with a mix of tongue tingling spices the mix of spinach and mushrooms was amazing. To call it off I’d say JamJar is an interesting place to be at with a lovely ambiance and wonderful environment. A little push on the food and the place would easily be frequented by many of us. (Not like it isn't. With waiting time on most visits) Thanks for your service & hospitality, would definitely want to be back. Looking forward for a pleasant change on...
Read moreHidden gem, indeed. Placed in Versova, this place was a little hard to locate at night. Step inside and you are into a whole new different upside down world (somewhat literally). This place, dimly lit with a rustic look has a cozy ambience. Wooden seating, couple of cushions, music in the background! There are 3 levels of seating, the lower most is when you walk right into the diner, next after you grab a couple of stairs that has antique looking tilted and reclining book shelves and cupboards, and then a pair of steps and you step outside in the open. Idle place for people wanting to enjoy the breeze. The food is delicious but I had a bad experience with the service. I ordered two burgers and only one came and the other turns into skewered chicken, and then instead of just correcting the order, the server started arguing. But the server was changed immediately. There are multiple good options to choose from and this is what I ordered: Pan tossed chicken sausages: Oh mamma-mia, they were AMAZING! It's a must try dish. This particular dish has pickled chilies which taste incredible when you eat them with the sausage. Mojito: You do need something to freshen you up and to sip while you eat right? Why settle for water? Order a drink! It comes in jars! Juicy Lucy: Juicy as the name says this beef burger is a good choice for all the juicy, meat burger lovers. The mustard mayo on the fat meaty molten cheese stuffed patty of the burger gives wonderful flavor in every bite. Chicken Honey Mustard Burger: The burger is yum but the bacon that was supposed to be crispy wasn't crispy at all. Slightly disappointed since I had ordered this particular dish out of my love for honey mustard and crispy bacon. Flower Pot Surprise: This is a treat! All you can see is a plastic flowerpot , soil & an orchid stalk. What it actually is; Oreo soil hiding a mass of vanilla ice cream with a layer of gooey brownie. Use your shovel (the spoon) and dig out the...
