What an absolute disgrace of a restaurant. It’s a shame, as aside from a broken TV (!) the hotel has otherwise been really nice, but this has surely ruined the overall experience.
First off, all the reviews that state they were paid to post it (and who have changed it after and exposed them) are absolutely true. The bar and restaurant are not busy (the bar, which serves food from the same restaurant with their menus on the tables, has been empty both times I’ve gone in - more on why later). It’s not a nice bar in any way, and has zero atmosphere. Same goes for the restaurant which is attached/in a different part of the same room.
Next, the prices are insane. I mean literally insane. One beer is listed as 650, but when you get the bill it’s got extra charges making it 780. For ONE BEER - the beer was draft, but it was flat.
Next, had a conversation with them about food. They kept trying to tell me what to order (not in a helpful way, in a ‘we have lots of this to get rid of’ way) but I asked a bunch of questions about a lamb dish that was expensive (almost 3000 once taxes were added - no rice, bread or anything else included) but sounded interesting. What turned up 40 minutes later can only be described as bone and gristle soup. How they can have these prices, not mention bones anywhere on the menu (we’re not talking about lamb shank or anything here - we’re talking individual lumps of mostly bone with a little bit of meat attached), and the total lack of ambiance in the hotel restaurant is entirely beyond me.
I immediately sent the food back. They didn’t look surprised so I am guessing it’s not the first time this has happened.
They still charged me for the damn beer, so I still ended up paying what I’d pay for an entire, delicious meal in most parts of this country (and city!) for one flat beer… so I guess that’s how they run their...
Read moreBeware: 2365 rupee / £24.49 for a bowl of cumin rice/jeera rice!!! Our stay at ITC Grand Central was ruined by this restaurant experience.
We ordered one murgh tikka, lamb tawa, and 1 kashmiri roti, 1 paratha and one jeera rice (rice is NOT on the menu but we were able to order via the waiter). However our experience was totally dampened when we received the bill. The jeera rice was listed for 2635 rupees (we are from London and this equates to £24.50 for a bowl of rice). Ridiculous. We flagged to the waiter who confirmed this is the correct price. We requested the manager, who also confirmed its the correct price and asked how we would like to pay. We said no way are we paying for rice that expensive, charge us appropriately we said. He then went away for 10 minutes and came back with 15% off the rice. We were shocked to see the rice was still on the bill. We said no, the rice was not on the menu and they should charge us properly and appropriately for rice!! He said it is on the menu and we didn’t look properly. We then showed him the online menu from which we ordered from where not one single rice dish is mentioned and he said the menu must vary by device. He then went away for 10 minutes and came back with the rice removed. He mentioned that even he was shocked at the rice but the fact he didnt remove the rice from the bill in a 5 star hotel restaurant was very poor. He then asked if we were staying at the hotel and was shocked to hear that we were and then finally apologised for the bill. Very strange encounter. As we left he thanked is for highlighting the bill discrepancy and apologised. We believe we were overcharged on purpose. We normally charge dinners and extras to the room but were so glad we didnt in this case so we were able to notice the ridiculous price and the clear scamming of customers. Absolutely shocking....
Read moreThis is one of, if not the best Peshawari / North Indian place in the south side of Mumbai. I was introduced to this place by my dad and then ever since, I simply love visiting this place. K&K have a variety of menu with Nawabi food options for both veg as well as non-veg.
I love this place especially for their Jhinga Ajwaini which is basically their own grown jumbo prawns marinated into various spices. I simply have never tasted prawns like this and its one of the must have over here. Another starter on their menu is ofcourse Murgh Angar for chicken lovers and Tawa Gosht for Lamb lover.
For vegetarian, i would definitely recommend their Dal Bukhara (Dal Makhani) which is simply awesome.
The ambience and the vibe of the place is very Royal and Nawabi. The staff is extremely courteous, humble and helpful. We were guided by Mr. Srinivasan for our food selection and his suggestions were found helpful. The restaurant even gave us a special birthday cake since we were celebrating my birthday one day and that was extremely generous gesture.
The prices are a little bit on the higher side, and the quantity definitely serves 2-3 people easily.
I would definitely recommend going at least once to this place and try the food that was made for the Nawabs. An overall rating of 10/10 for the food and the ambience.
Must haves :- Tawa Gosht with Tandoori...
