I recently visited a new food joint that specializes in authentic Kerala cuisine, and it was a delightful experience! This place truly captures the essence of Kerala with its rich and flavorful dishes. The aunties here will treat you like a mom, felt like home
Food: The highlight of my meal was the Fish Thali, which was incredibly tasty. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the variety of accompaniments like rice, sambar, and various chutneys added a wonderful depth of flavor. Every bite transported me to the coastal kitchens of Kerala.
Service: The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest felt welcome. The service was prompt, and they were knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations.
Ambience: While the food was fantastic, the ambience could use some improvement. The decor is quite basic and doesn't fully reflect the vibrant culture of Kerala. With a few enhancements, like traditional Kerala art, better lighting, and some cozy seating arrangements, the place could become even more inviting.
Overall: Despite the ambience needing a bit of work, the Kerala Lunch Home excels in delivering authentic and delicious Kerala food. If you're a fan of this cuisine or looking to try something new, this place is definitely worth a visit. I'm looking forward to seeing how they evolve and enhance their dining space...
Read moreSmall restaurant, family owned and operated; maybe 8-10 tables that can seat four. Staff are very attentive. The owner, Mr Varghese personally takes most of the orders himself. Their menu is fairly limited, but what it loses in number of items, it more than makes up for in quality. The food is served piping hot and tastes heavenly. Pure home cooked bliss. Made in authentic Malayalee fashion, it's heavy on coconut, less masala and salt or spices. Healthy food, in other words, as less oil is used.
I haven't had their vegetarian fare, I can't comment on that. But their non vegetarian food is great. Particularly recommend the fish thali, rawas/halwa/surmai fry.
What I really liked about the place is it's simplicity. It doesn't have any airs, no pretentions, just good food, and lots of it. If you're going during lunch time, I suggest going around 2, the place is almost always crowded, but once you place your order, food is served quickly. People eat and leave, so you don't have to wait too long.
Overall, I loved it. Another thing all budget food lovers should know: it isn't expensive. In fact, for the quality of food they serve, the price is a downright steal - a non veg thali (chicken/fish) will run you around 120 bucks (I've eaten there last in Nov'17), a meal for four will cost around 800 if you decide to get a couple of side dishes as well.

Read moreFood is good. But they behave partially and racist way. I had gone to this place a week after Onam and on weekend so it was crowded and we waited in a queue patiently. The moment our time reached to sit there came 4 women, who happens to visit same church as theirs, so they asked us if we can wait, we are also malyali although, so my hubby said theres a long queue and they came now and we are hungry as well so ask them to wait like others and we sat. If this was not enough those women still were given seat immediately after us but we were given torn banana leaf and those women were served better one my hubby asked to replace it and the guy says oh i have to serve these women also and I cant serve them in this. Our mistake we should have left but as few items were served to him we had our lunch and while paying the bill uncle asks me if my husband is always this adamant. I mean look at the audacity of both family member uncle and his son in law. And mind it we too were regular customer but not anymore. Sometime its not about food or taste but the way its served with the attitude and obviously a pathetic or no...
