Masala bay is currently running Awadhi food festival from 11 august to 3 september 2017..Interesting Menu of this festival is designed by Chef Sadab Qureshi. A person who eats, sleeps and breathes only food. These dishes come straight from heart and soul of Lucknow. Striking part of this food festival is everything made here is absolutely authentic .No fusion food at masala bay which is being served at a lot of restaurants these days in mumbai. Ingredients, spices, flavour, texture .Everything is precise and perfect.

Read moreAfter a long pandemic when Diwali knocked at the door it was time to choose a special restaurant and thus choose Masala Bay at Taj Lands end As you enter Taj you can either use a valet but you will be charged for sanitising the car or park on your own which is free of cost.
The restaurant is located at L1 which is both accessible by an elevator as well as stairs.
We were greeted warmly and escorted to a seat immediately. The menu card can be accessed through a QR Code which can be scanned through your mobile phone. As you order you will be served a complimentary plate of wafers with a tomato chutney. The chutney is like the one made in Bengali home made in mustard oil and goes really well with the wafers
To start with we ordered Nimona Tikka. This is a green peas patty which was served with onion and green chutney. It would have really gone well with a tamarind based sauce which I asked for but was not available and I was suggested to make do with the tomato chutney. Unfortunately I needed something tangy not sweet. I hope the message is passed on to the chef
In the non veg starter we also added Aatish e Chaap which was excellently made and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
In the main course we ordered Subz Lazeez Handi which we asked to make it Mild spicy but I think you can try the spicy version as the gravy has cashew. To eat this we ordered Bah Khummach a bread which is made sprinkled with fennel & poppy seeds. It complimented the gravy well.
Last but not the least we ended with Ras malai. It was good but not a speciality or something unique to remember. Thus maybe you can skip the dessert here
Nevertheless it was a Diwali evening well spent with the special care on...
Read morePost the previous days lacklustre Chinese lunch at another restaurant in the same hotel, we very skeptical to say the least when we were recommended by the Hotel staff to have dinner at the Masala Bay. Must I say, was pleasantly surprised and loved the experience at this restaurant. The food was fantastic and the service impeccable, just what one would expect from the Taj. Thanks to the entire staff out there. We had wine to go with the meal and the recommendations of the service staff was excellent, the detailed understanding of what we wanted to drink helped offering us the right red wine choice. Not that we understand the lineage of all things wine, but do think of ourselves as connoisseurs of good wine, especially the of red variety. A good medium bodied Merlot did the trick with the meal we had planned on consuming. The Gilawat Ke Kebab & Lehsooni Jhinga as starters were excellent and would highly recommend the former. It is just melt in your mouth lamb kebabs. For mains we had the Dal Makhani (a specialty of theirs) with naans and it was just a sort of dinner we had in mind. It is an expensive place and that one would know as you step into a 5 star deluxe hotel in India, hence I would say that it was a superb meal and well worth visiting, though expensive. Do book in advance as they do sell out, especially their specialties. I would strongly recommend...
