Santosh Lunch Home — Restaurant in Mumbai

As a resident of Vakola for many years, Santosh lunch home has delivered it's standard quality, over and over. An eatery that entertains a myriad of orders till 12 midnight and delivers quick and fast is always in my mind as a back up plan on those special evenings, like weekends, holidays, busy weekdays or just a day when you do not feel like having home cooked fare. The typical 'have it all' menu which includes Indian and Indianised Chinese are favourites. Seafood in Konkan style, Rawa (semolina coated) fried Bombil, Surmai (Kingfish), Bangda (Mackerel) wrapped in banana leaves, dripping in oil but nonetheless lip smackingly good, though a tad bit too spicy for my palate. The Chinese mixed fried rice, with fluorescent orange fried prawns, chicken pieces, and bits of happy yellow fried egg, along with sautéed bits of carrots, cabbage and spring onion make the dish a feast for the senses. Chicken lollipops are mostly more juicy and wholesome than other commonly found variations in Mumbai where the cornflour and strange dough make up for most of the edible parts. For the vegetarians the usual suspects like dal tadka or aloo jeera or aloo capsicum is quite the usual but do not disappoint, either in quality or quantity. I specially love the Dal khichdi that comes piping hot and beautifully seasoned with many things including a beautifully fried whole dried red chilly that gives out the most beautifully roasted odour! Their tandoori preparations too are quite good, my favourite being the whole chicken tandoori. It's almost always cooked just right, and the juices remain locked inside, releasing the most endearing flavours. Overall, Santosh Lunch home to me is a favourite as it kept delivering my favourite dishes over the years without a change in flavors, so when I am not feeling too adventurous and want the comfort of familiar yet exciting flavours, I always think of 'Santosh'. Warning❌Dont visit this place❌Dont go on reviews.....Worst food with worst service. I had ordered the below items and this is what they served me: 1.Chicken Puddina Tikka: Not properly cooked and very hard to eat.(Rs 230/-) Bombil Thali: This consist of only rice, plain curry with no fish, 1 bhaji and salad..that's it. The bhaji which served was stale and had worst taste. Curry had sour taste.Bombil fry was ok.(Rs 250/-) 3.Veg Thali: 3 bhajis (all hopeless) Rice and Dal..that's it.(Rs 160/-) On ordering coldrink the waiters did not bother to serve us just kept the bottle on table this shows the hospitality of this hotel. On giving the feedback to the manager instead of apogolizing or explaining this fellow started shouting on us and was not sorry for anything. I would recommend don't go on people's review and visit the restaurant like i did. Restaurant should give the same of quality of food in weekday's what it serves on weekend. Worst experience in my life in any hotel, I ordered chicken tandoori and prawns masala with chapati only, they served only chicken tandoori in 2 hrs, then I cancelled my 2nd order after waiting 2 hrs. staff is very rude and only 1 staff is serving to everyone in AC hall, I have to tell them 4 to 5 time for anything I want on my table, only bill came fast on my table nothing else.
