Read moreIt has been more than twenty years since I first visited Silver Coin Family Restaurant and Bar with my family, and it continues to remain a special place for us in Borivali. It is one of those restaurants in Borivali that continues to feel like home because of its food and hospitality.
This time, we began our meal with a bowl of Chicken Manchow Soup. It was served hot, and I enjoyed how it had a bold, flavorful taste without being overpowering. For starters, we ordered Veg Seekh Kebab, Mutton Seekh Kebab, and Chicken Pahadi Tikka. The Veg Seekh Kebab was nice, cooked well, and had the perfect earthy flavour. The Mutton Seekh Kebab was outstanding. It had a silky texture, was well-seasoned, and paired beautifully with the chutney. It was not chewy at all, and I really liked how smooth it felt with every bite. The Chicken Pahadi Tikka was equally good. The chicken was tender, juicy, and cooked with a light smokiness that made it enjoyable.
For the mains, I ordered Jeera Rice with Dal Tadka. The dal had a nice garlic tempering with the right amount of cumin, and together with the rice it felt wholesome and comforting. The Chicken Tikka Masala came with soft pieces of chicken in a thick gravy that had a good balance of spices. It went really well with the Tandoori Roti, which was crisp on the edges and soft in the middle. The Chicken Triple Schezwan Fried Rice was the last dish. It was mildly spiced, had a smoky taste from the wok, and the flavours were balanced in a way that made it enjoyable till the last bite.
As we were about to finish, we couldn’t resist ordering the Chicken Masala Lollipop, which has always been a family favorite. It was crispy, spicy, and coated beautifully with sauce. It was the highlight of the evening. The chicken inside was fresh and well-cooked, and every bite reminded me why I have loved this dish here for years.
The food at Silver Coin Family Restaurant and Bar is consistently good, and the staff make the experience even better. They are polite, attentive, and always welcoming. This restaurant is more of a family place, and the presence of a bar only adds to the variety without taking away from its warm atmosphere.

Read moreWe visited this restaurant based on the positive recommendation shared by our peers. I would like to share our feedback here as the Customer experience did not meet our expectations.
Firstly, the seating arrangement was way too congested and it felt like they had arranged 10 tables in a space of 8 tables. At one point there was a lot of smoke which was causing a lot of customers to cough so we asked one of the staff members to do something about it but the staff literally ignored and moved to another table without bothering to give a response or comfort that they have taken the necessary actions to remediate it.
Coming to the food; initially we ordered a few items but were told later that those are not available so we had to order other dishes in place of that. We ended up ordering Chicken Seekh Kebab, Chicken Pot Rice, Pomfret Fry, Prawns Goan Masala, Roti.
The chicken dishes were good and the Prawns Masala was also decent, it had the Coconut based gravy owing to the Goan preparation. However, we were very much disappointed with the Pomfret Fry and the Customer Service displayed by the staff thereafter. The Pomfret Fry was bland and didn't have any salt to it and lacked any flavour. We brought this to the notice of the staff and the Manager/Senior staff, Mr Niranjan attended the situation. We brought our displeasure to their notice but were baffled at their response as they seemed least bothered. The response that we got from Mr. Niranjan was that the Pomfret Fry is made out of a ready batter in which the salt is already added and they don't make/entertain any modifications to it and he advised to put Salt over the cooked Pomfret Fry and eat it at the table. We asked him to have a bite out of it and decide for himself whether what we mentioned was correct but he was reluctant to that and insisted on using the Salt shaker at the table to meet our requirements. Mr. Niranjan, seemed dismissive of our concerns and offered no apology for the unsatisfactory dish.
Overall it was an unpleasant experience and I would strongly advise against dining at...
