We recently visited Wow Momos in Chembur with high expectations, especially given the brand’s popularity and widespread presence. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype, and we left feeling underwhelmed.
We ordered both steamed and fried chicken momos, hoping to enjoy that classic momo flavor – soft, juicy, and packed with savory stuffing.
However, both variants tasted decent at best, and nowhere near the authentic flavor one usually associates with momos. The stuffing was minimal and lacked seasoning, leaving the taste quite bland and unsatisfying.
The biggest letdown was the texture of the steamed momos. A well-prepared momo should have a soft, slightly chewy outer cover – instead, these were hard, sticky, and not enjoyable to bite into. It felt more like dough than the smooth texture you’d expect from steamed momos.
We understand that Wow Momos may be experimenting with a modern take on the traditional momo, but unfortunately, in this instance, it missed the mark on authenticity and flavor. For momo lovers who are looking for that nostalgic, mouthwatering street-style experience, this may not be the place.
Verdict:
If you’re looking for a quick bite or trying Wow Momos for the first time, it might still be worth a try. But for those expecting the traditional momo taste and texture, this outlet might fall short of your expectations, as it did for us.
Rating: 3/5 Would love to see improvement in the stuffing quantity, flavor profile, and texture of the momos...
Read moreThe outlet advertises and SCAM people with discounted prices (e.g., ₹129 or ₹99) to attract customers but delivers poor-quality, inedible food, indicating a possible scam to mislead consumers.
I have spent approximately ₹300 on five momos that were inedible due to spoilage. Previously, I spent between ₹400 to ₹500 on similar orders, which also resulted in receiving spoiled food. After experiencing severe stomach aches and health issues from consuming these momos, I began ordering intentionally to determine if these incidents were accidental or deliberate. By ordering from multiple accounts with family and friends, we consistently received poor-quality food, indicating a pattern of neglect for consumer health.
The momos they send are really rotten, emitted a foul odor, and were unfit for consumption. I will highly recommend not to ever have any type of momos from here. Worst food practices they follow. Playing with people’s health. I’ve officially lodged a complain in FSSAI, let people be aware...
Read moreThis place is overpriced and overrated, having eaten tastier momos at more quantity (Quantity in terms of dumplings per plate as well as filling of each) for lesser price than that charged per plate at 'Wow! Momo'.
In some of their dishes, like the Chicken Pan Fried Momos in Szechuan Sauce, the copious amounts of sauce poured actually negate the taste of the momos, and it's quite unpalatable if you're one who cannot stomach excessively strong flavours. They won't honour your request to serve these separately since the dish is technically 'momos IN some sauce'. So consider these while order similar dishes.
As of December 2018, if you order a takeaway from here or have an order delivered via a food delivery app, note that the food is placed in close contact with tiny plastic bowls that hold chutney and sauce, and aren't foodgrade. In my case, the food was delivered piping hot, but as the plastic bowls were in close contact with the hot food, they melted. Clearly, this is a...
