Embassy Restaurant — Restaurant in Nainital

The Embassy is a long-standing, much-reputed restaurant on the Mall at Nainital. The best tables are on the tiny platform before the entranceway, overlooking the Mall Road and the lake. Good for both people-watching and lake-watching, while you enjoy a scrumptious meal. It was lunchtime and I wasn't feeling too hungry, so I ordered something light, a rajmah-rice combo. It lived upto Embassy's much-vaunted reputation, except for the poorly-chopped onions which were offered as an accompaniment. It was a slow weekend and so there wasn't much of an ambience in the restaurant, unlike the Lakeside which has quite an atmosphere people or no people. Hopefully, during the season and busy lunch and dinner hours, the place may sparkle like in the days of yore. It's a 61-year...

I am giving one star to this restaurant because it is the minimum rating required for posting a review. We had high expectations from this place as the ambience looked really nice from outside. But the food was pathetic. We ordered Paneer sizzler, chilli potato, cheese grilled sandwich and soup. None of the items were worth eating. After having two or three bites we felt like puking, thus we asked for the bill. the food on the table actually looked untouched when the staff came for the bill and not even once anyone asked us what was wrong and why were we leaving within just 5 minutes and instead asked if he could pick the ketchup bottles. I would not suggest anyone to get lured by the ambience you see from the outside as the food, staff and service everything...

We stayed in nainital for three days and all three days we enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. If someone is a North Indian food lover especially a fan of mughlai dishes then this is the perfect place. We tried tandoori chicken, chicken curry and chicken Tikka masala and genuinely speaking - all these three dishes were out of the world. They were too tasty and extremely yummy. The chicken was actually super soft as well. I suggest if one is craving for perfect chicken gravy items or starters then this is the place for them especially for all punjabi foodies. This is definitely not to miss eating joint...
