Today afternoon, I revisited The Kerala Table after almost six months—and what a heartwarming experience it turned out to be! The last time I went there, it was with a friend, and we had a great time. So for my brother’s birthday today, I decided to take my entire family. Honestly, I was a bit nervous—my family is quite picky when it comes to food, and I wasn’t sure if they’d enjoy it as much as I had.
But from the moment we stepped in, I knew I had made the right choice. I don’t even know where to begin—everything was simply perfect! The ambience was calm and inviting, the music added a soulful vibe to the space, and the staff was so warm, attentive, and courteous throughout. But let’s talk about the real star of the show—the food.
Every single dish we ordered was packed with flavour, cooked to perfection, and beautifully presented. We tried: • Prawns Mango Curry – a perfect balance of tangy and creamy, it’s a flavour bomb. • Kerala Parotta – soft, flaky, and the perfect accompaniment. • Chatti Pomfret Fish Curry – the richness of the curry and the freshness of the fish were unbeatable. • Thalassery Ghee Rice – so fragrant and comforting. • Thalassery Prawns Biryani – hands down, one of the best biryanis we’ve had in a long time! • Pomfret Tawa Fry and Surmai Tawa Fry – fresh, perfectly marinated, and seared just right. • Prawns Coconut Roast – rich, spicy, and oh-so-delicious. • And the refreshing Pineapple Mojito just added the perfect tropical touch to the meal.
We were genuinely blown away. My family, despite being very selective with their tastes, absolutely loved every dish. It made the birthday lunch extra special and memorable.
A huge shoutout to The Kerala Table for maintaining such amazing standards in every aspect—from hospitality to flavours. I’m so glad I chose this place again. And I can’t recommend it enough!
If you’re planning to go, don’t miss out on the Thalassery Biryani, Mango Prawns Curry, and Pomfret Fry – these are absolute must-haves!
Already looking forward to...
Read moreHorrible experience. This is not an authentic Kerala restaurant, none of the dishes have any kerala cuisine flavour. Firstly we asked for pineapple kulukki but were disappointed as we were told that other than buttermilk and lemon juice nothing else is available. But after sometime we see pineapple kulukki being served at other table. Firstly ordered paal chicken parotta. The parottas were not even cooked properly so it was rubbery and chewy. Then ordered Kerala rice with fresh mango prawns fish curry. Thoroughly disappointed again as there was no raw mango or mango flavour in the curry. There has to be sourness if raw mango is added in any form but it was totally missing. The prawns in the curry was not even cleaned and deveined properly could clearly see black veins intact on the prawns. Ordered kanthari fish tawa fry. Kanthari chilli is known for its extreme spicy flavour and this fry was zero spicy so we r very sure kanthari chilli has not been used at all in the fry. It is just a marketting gimmick. The fish was dripping in extreme oil and totally flavourless. Totally horrible experience. The portion sizes of all dishes are so less that it can serve only 1 person and not at all worth the high price charged.
Now comes the scariest part. As soon as we left the restaurant I started feeling nausea and uneasy feeling in the stomach. My husband as well started experiencing uneasiness after sometime. We cancelled all our further plans and somehow hurriedly reached home. Now both of us are down with a bad upset stomach, vomitting etc. If 1 person got affected it can be that the food did not suit the person but since both of us faced health issues we are sure there is food quality issue. Also seems like there is cooking soda added in any of the dishes, must be the rice. Service is also very very slow. Will never ever again visit or recommend this...
