So we visited Pondicherry for the first time and were stationed at a place very near to this restaurant. This place is, by the way, called la Mason rose. Now this review is going to be very big so please be patient😅. On our first day we had black pepper prawns, Taiwan tenderloin fillet, prawns pizza with bacon added and burnt American cheese cake and all of this tasted fabulous. The prawns was good, the beef was good, the pizza was quite fresh and crunchy and the burnt American cheese cake was a cherry on the pie. It was crazy. So we knew that this was one restaurant where we could come back again. In 2 days again we decided to visit this place for breakfast. We had an Egg Benedict with bacon and pink beetroot sauce, we had egg omelette and toast and we had French toast. All this was amazing. We really enjoyed our food up till now. Although, they do not serve normal tea for breakfast. The English tea which they serve is not quite up to the mark. But the service and the eating experience is quite good. Next in a few days we had pork belly cubes, garlic grilled fish with mashed potatoes and veggies and burnt American cheesecake. We also had Pondy cinner cocktail which is gin + cinnamon + orange juice and is quite okay. Again all these food items were quite amazing. The pork belly cubes we're quite fresh, the fish was quite fresh and tasty and frankly we are a fan of that burnt American cheese cake 😍. So I would love to go to this place again and have my breakfast or food over there and have a very good time because their service is amazing, food is of a very good quality and the ambience is equally good. So definitely recommended with all the above-mentioned dishes. Should...
Read moreI visited this restaurant for lunch with friends and family. Although we were excited to try the food, we ended up waiting for 45 minutes to be seated, which was a bit disappointing. The ambiance, however, was warm and inviting, setting a pleasant mood for our meal. The cleanliness was generally acceptable, though there is room for improvement, particularly with the seating area, which could use more attention to detail.
We ordered a variety of dishes: Paneer Skewers and Chilli Satay Wings for starters, followed by Fish & Chips, Mediterranean Pizza, BBQ Cauliflower Tortellini, and Seafood Spaghetti as main courses. Each dish was served at an ideal temperature, and the presentation of the pizza, tortellini, and spaghetti was visually appealing. However, the skewers and wings lacked the same level of care in presentation and could be improved.
In terms of taste, the Fish & Chips, Wings, and Skewers were quite disappointing and did not meet our expectations. The other dishes had decent flavors, but nothing that truly stood out. Service efficiency was also lacking; staff seemed overwhelmed by the crowd and were not attentive to customers, which affected the overall experience.
This place has potential, but improvements in both food quality and service would make it a much more enjoyable dining option.
Here's my drilldown review. Ambience: 5/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Efficiency of Service: 2/5 Taste of food: 2/5 Presentation of food: 2/5 Worth...
Read moreThis place should be ok a must visit list if in Pondicherry. Its name is now changed to "Coromandel Cafe" This was one of the best places I've ever visited till date. This place is so different with all that french styled villa with hundreds of plants and each seating is very different. The place is quite bustling and also filled with a lot of foreigners. They have a french styled desert counter in the garden. The food is heavenly. Freshest bites I ever had. No doubt its one of the top 50 restaurants in India. This place is like a comfort villa where you come to spend lots and lots of time, chilling, hanging with friends or partner or maybe all alone.
We tried Pink Plate and Spaghetti in Harissa sauce, both were at highest standards in quality. Thier food is whole organic and gathered in and around from Puducherry only.
Also there Greek yogurt créme brulee was to die for. Being vegetarian, dessert options were limited but their menu was majority...
