Panchali is classic story of a hardworking family who put their all into a teeny tiny takeaway only food outlet that Aunty cooked and Uncle manned the till and packed the food out of the tiny Bain Marie of 6 entrees. The days became weeks , became months and years rolled by as the Pashan Baner link Road saw new housing societies spring up at the foothills of the tekdi and the young aspirants with dreams in their eyes commuted to the steel and glass towers at Hinjewadi IT Park from here, got married and settled down to make Pashan their home. All this time they seldom had time to cook and eat as they made their way up the ladder save for Panchali which served superb and Superb is the only way to describe the food served there. Honest flavours, affordable prices and a heavenly home-cooked taste that was miles away from the oily, fatty masaaledaar, heavy-handed on the spice rack generic food served in all the restaurants on either side of Panchali on the Sus road going up to the Mumbai Bangalore Bypass or the Baner road heading from the University to Balewadi Sports Complex and the highway to Mumbai. The menu at Panchali changes daily and an old fashioned black board announces the entrees for the day. Good luck if you turn up at Panchali after 12.30 in the afternoon. That place sells and sells fast. Last year the place next door was up for rent and Panchali expanded to dining in and... That fills up fast. The Peanut laddoos and their Puran Poli are heavenly. They are mostly Vegan with an occasional Paneer that pops up sometime during the week. Their chappatis are large , soft and tasty and they sell for 5 Rupees a piece. Their entrees average at 50 odd rupees and bit more for the paneer makes Panchali a go to for several reasons, it's tasty, it's as healthy as home cooked food, it has a varied menu, it's family owned and cooked and it's local. Eating at Panchali puts money into the hands of hardworking people who toil to create a success. A family of four could eat a decent tasty meal in less than 1 €...

#----Editing on 22.08.23-------------- Bought tondli 3-4 days back in dinner time was very oily.Would like to request to keep oil less and include green veggies in the dinner time like gawaar, french beans and other beans chowli etc. more often. If possible, please improve quality of chapatis , as I don't like the quality of chapatis and order daily 10 chapatis from elsewhere for dinner time and also include jeera steamed rice ,if possible (as I order that too from elsewhere daily).
But would like to thank for the homely, economical...
Read morePanchali is one of the oldest take away food place on baner pashan link road, famous for home style food preparation. They also have a dine in facility since last few years where they serve snacks, soft drinks and maharashtrian meals and a few selected punjabi dishes. It is one of the rare places that is hygienic, clean, affordable and at the same time serve delicious snacks and meals. The meals menu is limited to maharashtrian thali (which I will highly recommend) and special panner preparation with hot chapati. All the dishes that make are very tasty but some of my favorites are bread roll and vada pav which are served with delicious red and green chutneys, mix veg and alu paratha, thalipeeth and chole puri. The accompaniments they serve with the snacks are well thought off and the taste is consistent. They also take party orders for...
