Publiq has been making waves in Pune for quite a while now, mushrooming all over the city providing a convenient watering hole to residents in that area.
The name itself is not only a wonderful play on the word – “public” denoting the community of people at large but also a grouping of “PUB” which serves “LIQ”uor ergo, PUBLIQ.
Coming to the place, it’s got a wonderful, relaxed vibe to it in the day time, imploring you to unwind and chill with your gang. Lots of seating options – wooden-back chairs, sofa chairs and seating and even cabanas for larger groups. All this in the alfresco area. The inside section has more of the club vibe with the ambiance and lighting.
Signature Cocktails The Penicillin [Rs. 425] had an amazing hit of the smokiness of the smoked whisky, with beautiful undertones of ginger, honey and lemon. And being sugar-free, the other flavors got an opportunity to shine through. #MustHave
Since my first smoked cocktail was such a fine piece of work, I opted to try the Smoked Orange [Rs. 445] with vodka, home-made orange syrup, orange juice and lime. While vodka and orange juice is a classic combination, this drink did not work.
The Publiq Era Starters The Five Spice Chicken Tikka [Rs. 395] is an Indian five-spice marinated chicken bhatti murg. Marinated with cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black mustard seeds, pepper and turmeric and tandoored in the “bhatti” or clay oven, the dish sported some lovely flavors. On the other hand, the Zabardast Prawns Tikka [Rs. 495] had some tandoori charred jumbo prawns, served with mint chutney and sirka [vinegarized] onion. Lovely char on the prawns but it was a little undercooked. A few minutes more in the tandoor and it would’ve been perfect.
The Butter Chicken Mini Naanza [Rs. 355] had masala chicken lathered on a flaky naan pizza base and topped with cheese. You don’t expect this dish to be messed up and Publiq delivered on our expectations. Amazing flavors of the BC on the crispy, flaky naan. #YumYum
The Legendary Publiq Era Dim Sums The Chicken and Pink Ginger Dumplings [Rs. 375] had a minced chicken stuffing. Some lovely burst of flavors, and the pickled ginger on top adds another layer of complexity to the dish however the envelope could've been a little thinner.
Mains While the Spinach and Cheese Ravioli exhibited some good flavors, I personally did not like the presentation. Attempts to Indianize any non-Indian dish isn’t something that sits well with me. Dried red chili tadka on top with curled salad vegetables served with a ravioli is a big NO-NO.
Desserts The Moong Dal Cigar [Rs. 325] is definitely a unique dish on their menu, an attempt at creating something different. And they deliver on that brief. Crispy phyllo pastry rolls stuffed with moong dal served with milk pudding. A perfect combination of crispy with the soft, the warm with the cold. #DeliciousDelicious
Overall, the evening was a mix of hits and misses in terms of F&B however the service can definitely be improved.
Publiq has been a wonderful addition to the Koregaon Park culinary landscape and with its amazing cocktails and scrumptious grub, it provides a perfect spot for lazy afternoons and happening evenings. And with pocket-friendly prices, it definitely is “the...
Read moreWhen you enter this place make sure you read board where it is written 7.5 service charge applied according to manager of Publiq.
Ambience is okay not that great. When order food most of them are on expensive but that fine since you been to such place.
Overall food good but the few of items which we order was bad we have given the feedback for that. They have asked to change it that was fine we were not going to have it again.
When it comes to billing they have charged it 7.5 service charge without our concern. Now we have asked manager to come and according to him it mandatory in all the restaurant. And we charge it to all the customer. That is fine they are applying GST on service charge as well.
We have given the explanation that it clause given by government of India. But he started comparing with other countries like USA and Europe.
Here comes the funny part when we have shown the Indian government site where it was written Government of India, New Delhi he started saying that it's for New Delhi not applicable in Maharashtra.
Another table discussing on the same with manager we have to call the police for the same.
Manager was Ch** that he didn't care about the customer. What he was trying is that to pay his employe with our money.
I would give 3-3.5 🌟 for service but because of the manager I'm giving it 1 🌟 that is too high for me because of trouble...
Read moreA solid 3 for the good food only. Well let's start with the food. The food was amazing and delicious with good quantity and proportions, The place is quiet fancy and A bit on the higher budget. There is not a single dish below Rs300 so if you are in for a big day then this is your bet.
The service. Pathetic, and awfully slow, the servers are like snail's, they'll listen to you and forget it and then listen to you and forget it again and then finally get it to you, the biryani the pasta the potato wedges which they call the homie fries is good, the quantity and quality of food is amazing and properly cooked with authenticity of the dish.
Let's get on to the ambience. Well the place is LIT 🔥 they have a outdoor and indoor seating arrangement which is nice and pleasant, BUT..... THE CHAIRS AND THE SOFAS, My God they are the worst kind of chairs and sofas have ever sat on. The Single chair is the worst I have ever sat on it's uncomfortable it's uneasy there's no back rest no arm rest it's like they want to you finish your food and leave, I had an awful time sitting on the chair, the sofa is low as if placed on the ground and the dining table is way is a bar high and far from you. It dining was really unpleasant because of the low quality chairs and sofas but the rest is fine food is great and ambience and crowd. That's all. Thanks again and a solid 3 just for...
