We ordered Solkadhi, spring rolls , bhendi , kothimbir wadi for starters , promptly served they all were delicious however I felt the bhendi was a bit salty. By the time our starters were done over we ordered main course , coconut sabji, cashewnut and sev bhaji , ghavana, bhakri and chapati . It took more time to serve us the main course, the food served was not that hot this is were the disappointment started the ghavne was ice cold , one bhakri short , we ordered cold water which took ages to come . The repeat bread order was too slow , I believe if you cannot cater to this volume you should take only limited numbers . We had ordered carrot koshimbir which was served at the end of our meal , we had ordered wadha bhat which never came . The food taste was okiesh I suggest if it was piping hot along with hot Breda it would have tasted much better .. I will not blame the servers as they were not allocated their sections which caused them going at each table of the restaurant. That’s where no one knew what is pending or if someone needed something. chef was going to most of the tables but was hesitant to come to our table anyway that’s not the point when you charge good amount you as a restaurant need to deliver delicious food with prompt service it’s nonnegotiable. At the end after paying the bill tried to give feedback to the chef instead of paying attention to me he turned around and started talking to the other gentleman who was at the pass . The cleanliness at the washrooms was not good at all , while we were walking out of the restaurant we could see tissues , food crumbs all fallen on the floor no one to pick up these are basics for a busy restaurant isn’t it . I had a similar feeling today and we decided to go to Saandan (pronounced Saaan dun - like done) off Paud road. Based off the pictures I saw and the menu online I was excited to try the traditional Maharshtrian foods from various parts of the state. But, upon reaching the restaurant, I found to my dismay just 1 side of a page with just 6-8 dishes... The 10 other pages were paneer lababdaar,dal fry, veg kolhapuri( you get the idea 😑). We ordered the masala Bhakri ( tired rendition of its cousin the masala papad), the Kaap ( slices of apparently potato and yam) coated in spices and sooji and shallow fried in this case. The potato was fried in oil at a lower temp and then the heat suddenly yanked which let the outer coating cook but the potato was 3/4th cooked and oily... So far, things looked bleak so I adventurously decided to order raw banana flower sabzi with rice bhakri( supposed to be served with chirote and thecha, got shengdana chutney and thecha) . I honestly thought there would be delicate flavours at play but was sadly.mistaken... all I could taste was Garam masala...So I ate one bhakri and called it a day. My partner's maaswadi and bhakri were just below average. The food so far lacked flavour and seasoning both... The saving grace was the Saandan (jackfruit/mango)- we ordered the mango ( Mango rice cake immersed in coconut milk). I guess by then my expectations has plummeted and I enjoyed a siah that was simply flavoured but yet took me to a beach in the Konkan. My 2 stars are awarded only for the Mango Saandan.
