Tipsy Duckling
Tipsy Duckling is a venture from same management that used to run Ugly Duckling on Baner pashan link road, TD is located on Karve road and serves continental cuisines with most of the dishes which are done with some twist or fusion along with an extensive bar menu. The restaurant has a seating capacity of around 120 pax and the ambience of this place is pleasant. TD serves some amazing beer on tap from Kimaya and Yavasura Breweries from Pune and Ninkasi Brewworks from Mumbai. As update by the management team this place has a one of a kind beer tap which is suspended one unlike most of the places which is on countertop or mounted on the wall. I was really impressed with the dedicated menu card for the beer on taps which has all possible details like Name f the brewing co, info about the beer flavors, Hop Level, Alcohol Strength, Color, Taste(Less Bitter, Bitter, Sweet, etc), and food paring option along with it as well.
Mocktails
Kiwi Frost, Mandrin Blast, Fugutive, Blueberry Ice Cream Soda.
Mandrin Blast was my best pick out of it, it had a orange flavor crush along with mild hint of vanilla.
Starters
Chicken Ghee Roast Nachos [Rs 285]: Nachos topped with beans and chicken ghee roast was good in taste, the chicken was well cooked and it was medium spicy, I was expecting it to be a bit spicy. #Recommended.
Chicken Kheema Paani Poori [Rs 218]: Pani Poori served along with chicken kheema, boiled potatoes, green peas and Kolhapuri Pandhara rassa was extremely disappointing dish that I had in recent times. The Pandhara rassa had a strong punch of cinnamon only and was salty, the chicken kheema was also not finely minced and the combination didn’t work out for me.
Chicken Thecha Kebab [Rs 311]: Boneless chicken pieces done with green chilly based marianation was good in taste, I was expecting it to have a spicy punch as thecha is supposed to be a bit spicy; however it was good in taste with tender and perfectly cooked chicken pieces. #Recommended
Tandoori Aloo [Rs 245]: Mini Aloo pieces done in a tandoori masala was excellent in taste, it was served with mint chutney and pickled onion which was also superbly done. Indeed a #Musthave for non veg lovers as well.
Pesto Arancini [Rs 248]: Rice balls stuffed with cheese and pesto filling was crispy on outside and was soft inside, it was topped with a medium spicy tomato based sauce which was flavorful and it was good in taste. #Recommended
Chicken Chettinad Sliders [Rs 223]: The mini buns were stuffed with lettuce and chicken chettinad pieces in it, the buns were soft and fresh however the chicken chettinad masala was very mild on flavors, the chicken was soft and juicy but the overall it didn’t impress me.
Mains
Butter Chicken [Rs 361]: Char grilled tandoori chicken pieces in a thick and rich gravy was superb in taste, it was creamy and buttery. It went well with Butter Naan. #Highlyrecommended.
Khowsuey [Rs 315]: Assorted veggies in aromatic and delicious coconut based gravy was superb in taste. The noodles and condiments were topped on the gravy base and it was served in a kind of pre mixed and ready to eat form. #Musthave
Ghee Roast Chicken with Laccha Paratha [Rs 300]: The Chicken pieces were well cooked but the gravy was thin in consistency and it was mild on flavors. Didn’t impress me.
Desserts
Passion Fruit [Rs 200] & Blueberry Cheesecake [Rs 205]: The Cheesecakes were soft, lite and creamy and the bottom layer had a thin crispy crust. Both were superb in taste. #Highlyrecommended.
Frozen Hot Chocolate [Rs 208]: Frankly I am not a hot chocolate lover, this one was good in taste, other people on the table enjoyed it a lot. The presentation part of this dessert was inviting.
Overall: Service was slightly slow, restaurant was hygienic, tipsy duckling has many options in beer on tap and paired up with some amazing food and reasonable rates it seems a good option to me. Thanks a lot Team Tipsy Duckling for hosting us.

Tipsy duckling is one of those places where you feel refreshed, energetic/energized after entering the restaurant premises. The logo of duck only catches your attention. The Tipsy ducking is a sister restaurant of Ugly duckling which was known for their smoky meat preparations. The entire restaurant gives you a positive sporty vibe which helps you and refreshes your mood. The ambiance, interior as well as the branding is done so perfectly that everything is relatable.
Seating capacity is of around 120 which is pretty good and I think it's one of the fewer restaurants in Kothrud which serves crafted beers. They have lots of tapped beer on board which is something more to offer in the alcoholic beverage section.
Let's get into the main action -
✪ Starters
Ghee roast chicken tacos - A new combination which I liked personally. Classic nachos with red beans and other mixture with ghee roast chicken topped with sour cream. The masala of ghee roast was on the spicier side but it complimented perfectly to the nachos and red bean mixture. A good combination with nachos.
Thecha kebab - Tender juicy pieces of chicken kebab marinated in thecha preparation. The kebab was cooked perfectly and juicy yet it and had that charred flavor at the end of every chunk. However, the punch of thecha was missing badly, thecha is known for the green chilies punch which was missing badly. The kebab was on much milder flavor than that I thought of as per my personal palate.
BLT - One of the best BLT sandwiches I've tried. The perfect balance of every element which can be seen in this one. The bun was soft and had mustard tossed lettuce, tomato and enough bacon strips, heaven for the bacon lover. It's so simple yet so perfect that you can't go wrong with this one at all.
Tandoori Aloo - Marinated with classic tandoori marination and then finished in a tandoor till it gets a nice charred flavor. The marination was perfect and aloo was cooked well but the marination didn't go till the end of potato which was something I experienced. Still, the dish was good as it had that nice flavor of marination followed by gooeyness of aloo and a juicy flavor of same.
Chettinad Sliders - Visually appealing, this dish failed to impress me. The sauce was something different than the name, it felt like mayo sauce with some chili flakes topped on it. It didn't have any Chettinad flavor which was disappointing. The chicken chunks, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly and the overall taste of sliders was great it wasn't dry at all.
✸Mains
Ghee roast chicken - A somewhat different again than the actual name. The expected thick gravy was watery and had a dominant tangy flavor. Didn't expect this to come.
Butter chicken - This saved our day. The best one to have here without any doubt. It had a balanced flavor of cream and tomato and it wasn't sweet at all. It had that perfect sweetness of cream which was accompanied by chicken tikka, went well with roti.
Kerala stew with lemon rice - A combination to try at Tipsy. A coconutty thick stew with lots of veggies topped with lemon flavored rice. The rice had mild lemon flavor but it went perfect with the stew, Stew had a dominant flavor of coconut but again it was balanced by the juicy veggies.
Khow Suey - Another coconut based preparation which simply won our heart. A medium thick textured coconut dominated gravy which was mixed with noodles and topped with burnt garlic and noodles. The gravy was creamy yet flavorful and slightly tangy with a hint of spicy punch at end of every bite. A satisfying dish to have in the mains.
I even tried some mocktails and desserts but I'm no judge at these things so I'll avoid that.
Overall Verdict - Tipsy is fun to go a place where you can have some crafted beers and chill with friends. The food is equally good and...

From the people who gave us an ugly duckling, comes another naughty waterfowl – The Tipsy Duckling.
A spacious eatery in the heart of Kothrud [or K-Town, as its more popularly known], the Tipsy Duckling has comfortable indoor and outdoor seating to suit the weather and your mood. One of the rare places in this side of town to pour craft beers, Tipsy also serves a wide range of delectable fares ranging from Continental to South East Asian to fusion.
Recently I was called over to sample some of their popular dishes and here is the rundown of my experience.
After sampling beers from all the breweries that Tipsy pours [Kimaya, Yavasura and Ninkasi], I opted for Kimaya’s Vanilla Porter. A fantastic beer with a subtle aroma of vanilla balancing the stout.
Considering my dietary restrictions, I requested for a drink that was sans sugar and the bartender was kind enough to whip up the NYC Duckling [Rs. 250] for me. Vodka and wine topped with pomegranate juice was a wonderful combination of flavors which ticked all the right boxes for me.
Small Plates The Bacon Cheese and Fries [Rs. 385] were delicious with the fatty goodness of the bacon complementing the cheese and crispy fries. #DeliciousDelicious
However, the Rawa Fried Fish Fingers [Rs. 500] were over salted and the Smoked BBQ Chicken Wings [Rs. 260] felt a tad dry to me.
The Earthy Oven The Chicken Thecha Kebab [Rs. 260] had the perfect spiciness that’s expected from a thecha kebab. #zanzanit is the most apt way to describe this dish. #YumYum
Innovation & Chat The Tipsy Duckling has also innovated some dishes to infuse some uniqueness into the otherwise popular but mundane options. The Chicken Kheema Pani Puri [Rs. 200] and the Chicken Kheema Sev Puri [Rs. 120] both sported some unique flavors however the pandhra rassa of the pani puri tasted more like Thai white curry with a strong coconut milk undertone. However, the softness of the kheema went well with the crunch of the puris.
Pizzas and Sandwiches The Butter Chicken Flat Bread [Rs. 330] had a lovely crispy thin base however could do with more of the butter chicken gravy on top. On the other hand, the BLT Sandwich [Rs. 320] was perfectly on-point, packed full of flavors. #YumYum
Indian Roots The Mutton Kheema Pav [Rs. 320] was a complete downer. Far less quantity for the price quoted, the mutton too felt a little off.
International Delicacies The Khow Suey [Rs. 360] served here has a bit of a twist. The addition of crunchy noodles on top of the dish elevated the dish to a different level, in my opinion. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended
With The Tipsy Duckling, Kothrud has finally found the perfect place which combines delectable fares with craft beers, something K-Towners were thirsty for, for...
