We had a team party at World of Veg during lunch hours. This restaurant is near to my office & within walk-able distance, hence no worry of Car Parking. The restaurant is on the 7th floor of Ramsukh House (which is relatively a new building near Sancheti Hospital). Since it’s a rooftop restaurant the ambiance of the restaurant is quite beautiful. It must be a great place during evening time! It has outdoor & inside seating options. During lunch time they just keep the inside restaurant running.
As the name suggests, this restaurant offers vegetarian food from various cuisines like North Indian, Italian, Oriental, Chinese & Thai.
Few of my colleagues ordered Veg Thali which is not on the menu & we had started with Lemon Coriander Soup (a hot & sour clear soup flavored with lemon grass, galangal, lemon leaf, coriander & lime with chunks of vegetables) & Assorted Vegetable Platter (a combination of different veg kebabs served on a platter).
The soup was good in taste, although not thick! Assorted Vegetable Platter was served with following kebabs:
Tandoori Atishi Aloo (Stuffed aloo cooked in tandoor masala),
Veg Kadak Seek Kabab (vegetables seek stuffed with cheese & deep fried),
Bharwan Kumbh (Mushroom stuffed with minced mushroom & cheese) &
Afgani Tikka (Cottage cheese marinated with rich cashew nut masala roasted in tandoor).
Presentation of the Assorted Veg Platter was good! From the flavour perspective I liked Tandoori Atishi Aloo, Bharwan Kumbh & Afgani Tikka, they were yum! I didn’t like the taste of Veg Kadak Seek Kabab, since it was deep fried, it had a bad flavour of the oil.
In the due course of time, my colleagues were served with the luxurious unlimited Veg Thali (the food & beverages were served in Silver Thali, Silver Bowl, Silver Cutlery, etc.). The Thali contains a large variety of dishes like Chat, Samoa, 4 Sweets (Strawberry Burfi, Gazar Ka Halwa, Gulab Jamun & Halwa), 3 Subji (Muttar, Aloo & Panner), Dal, Kadhi, Phulke, Papad, Rice, Raita, Pickles, Salads, & Ice Cream. Along with the food they were served Jal Jeera & Butter Milk.
Although I had ordered food from the menu but tasted all the items from Veg Thali. All the items were excellent, especially Samosa, Strawberry Burfi, Muttar & Aloo Subji.
In Main Course, we had ordered Makai Kumbh Masala (fresh mushrooms & American corn cooked in mildly spiced onion & tomato based gravy), Veg Kolhaphuri (selected farm fresh vegetables cooked with spicy onion gravy), Roti, Fulka (Very hard to find in restaurants), Garlic Naan, Fresh Lime Soda & Butter Milk.
The Veg Thali was quickly served, but they took a long time to serve food from their menu. Finally, the hot food was served. I liked Makai Kumbh Masala & Veg Kolhaphuri, it was properly made tangy & delicious! Garlic Naan was good! The flavour of garlic was prominent & the Naan was soft! Butter Milk was served in a typical glass, although tasty, but too less considering its cost! Fresh Lime Soda was also OK!
Staff were good & courteous! Overall my experience was good. I would definitely visit again to explore their Thali & other dishes from the menu. Cost wise, a bit on the higher side! Veg Thali though very good, but...
Read moreVisited on Tuesday 7th Sep. The ambience is great, the view from the top is nice. Materials used in the interiors of the restaurant are top quality. Tables are spacious and seating is comfortable. The first inpressions are definitely good. Staff is well dressed and well mannered. Cleanliness is top notch. Gives the impression of a professionally managed property.
We ordered Minestrone Soup, Paneer Angara, Chef's special Makhana in Makhni gravy, Butter Rotis and Sizzling Brownie.
The soup was perfect. Paneer Angara at World of Veg definitely has some problem. We thought ours was not marinated properly and could have been a one-off case. The marination was too less and paneer too thick..felt like raw paneer. We read many unpleasant reviews about Paneer Angara on their page, though. Main course was nice in taste although I wouldn't put it as Chef's Special, reason being, it had paneer, makhana and mixer-fine makhana gravy. That's it. No veggies or any other accompanying flavour, but as it was, it was good. Sizzling brownie was just perfect..chocolate was slightly dark in flavour.
We wanted mocktails and more desserts, but they had cut-short their menu quite a bit. As on date, they had stopped all mocktails and almost all desserts. Maybe other food items were also cut out, but we luckily we didn't order them. So better be sure before being mentally attached your order. Menu unavailability doesn't warrant negative reviews because you cannot rate something that isn't available, but I guess a few follower-hungry newbie "bloggers" on zomato won't empathize with the prevailing conditions.
Any disappointments?
Apart from the Paneer Angara, I personally felt the portion for the price paid could have been greater, but I cannot judge without understanding their overheads.
Service could have been more attentive. They did seem short-staffed, but nothing was a cause of great concern as to directly rate 1star based only on this. Again, we must understand that the prevailing conditions aren't really suitable for some aspects of business.
All in all, a...
Read morePathetic food and service received last night when we visited this place to celebrate my mom's birthday. There was a huge crowd of people who were just leaving as we were being seated. We thought the service might be messed up because of the huge group, and thought it'll get better once they leave. But the service nothing but degraded till the end. We were waiting for water to reach us for 10 mins. We ordered soup which took forever to be served. Minestrone was so-so, carrot ginger soup was a creamy preparation (it didn;t say so in the menu) but the taste was good. Then we ordered food, 3 starters - cheese corn balls, paneer fyonladiya, peshawari soya chap (chef recommended). The paneer was bad and chewy, we thought something was wrong, so gave feedback and they offered to make a fresh preparation and serve some other dish. That paneer turned out to be bland with no taste and same chewy texture. The soya chap was nothing but tasteless atta. Horrible in taste. We moved to main course. We ordered Veg bhuna and Methi mutter malai. Veg Bhuna turned out to be hot and spicy, so less people could eat it. But the Methi mutter malai was made of something very stale - like maybe stale cashew paste or atta which had turned bad. You know that oily bad taste you get if a peanut is khaut. That kind. We immediately returned it. They got one roti less. So we had to share 1/2 and thought they'll immediately go get the next one, but we kept waiting and nothing. Then we asked are you getting the roti, and the guy said did you order it? And we were like what?? We directly went for rice then since we already had dal tadka which was the only decent thing on the plate. The restaurant became empty and all guests left we were still waiting for the rice. We lost the appetite by then, so I had none. We finally finished whatever we had and left. They asked for feedback, and we were shocked. We wrote the feedback as well. Amazing view and location, but that does not count since food...
