Agrawal of Honest rates consistent quality as his USP
Vijay Agrawal recalls the ’60s and the ’70s, when he and elder brothers, Anil and Lalbabu, ran a chaat centre at Law Garden, the streetfood hub of Ahmedabad. The turning point came in the early ’70s when they introduced pav bhaji into their menu.
“Pav Bhaji became popular in Mumbai during the ’60s, but we did not bring the same recipe here. Instead, we experimented with it to match local tastes. In those days, we would ask patrons to taste our bhaji and give their feedback,” says Agrawal, and adds, “by the ’80s, we tasted success.”
Inspired by the success of their cart, the brothers started an eatery at Panchwati around 1987. This became a huge success as it offered pav bhaji along with other street-food items in a hygienic and congenial setting. Besides pav bhaji, Agrawal says their pulav was a big favourite among the people of Ahmedabad.
Between 1990 and 2000, they kept setting up restaurants and roadside eateries in each area that developed in Ahmedabad and entered the suburbs as well. He adds proudly, “Quality is supreme for us, hence, no compromises on this front.
Though we use the best quality ingredients, a dinner for two costs just about Rs 150. We also keep the ambience a little casual. We have retained a strong loyalty factor among the staff that ensures consistent quality.”

Read moreHonest is known for their Honesty in taste, Quality, Hygine & Service.
These factors has been the key reasons of such a huge success of this hospitality company.
Predominantly this brand can be found all over Gujarat, but this center is probably one of their few centers out of Gujarat (Thanks to the large number of Gujaratis travelling to Mt. Abu) Being a Gujarati Company Honest is not only famous for Gujarati food, but food items from all over India are available at an Honest restaurant.
The Honest at Nakki Lake Mt. Abu lacks a bit (not Completely) in taste & Quality.
I feel that this center is not directly managed by the company, probably this is a Franchise center.
The place is still able to attract a larger crowd & I guess the larger number of guests are adding to their woes.
Any how, if you are looking for some variety in your veg platter, you can think of visiting this place.
Its a Semi open kind of environment here. The quality of food is not the excellent but not bad.
The location is quite good & is just overlooking the Nakki Lake, which is the main attraction & Center point in the small town of mt. Abu.
A lot of other eating joints & games parlours can be found on the same lane.
Honestly I would give honest a rating of three stars...
Read moreI recently dined and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. Not only was the food subpar, but the service also left much to be desired.
First, the appetizers were underwhelming. The paneer chilly dry lacked flavor and seemed hastily prepared. The main courses were even more disappointing.
The poor service exacerbated the bad food experience. Service was slow and inattentive. We had to flag down our server multiple times for basic requests like water refills and additional utensils. The staff seemed indifferent and unenthusiastic, which added to the negative atmosphere.
A particularly frustrating incident occurred with our main course. They initially served us naan, but the curry didn’t arrive until 30 minutes later. To make matters worse, they took the naan away while we waited and then returned it to us when the curry finally arrived. It was evident that it was the same naan, which had gone cold and stale by then.
Curry and dosa was too much salty.
Incident happened on last...
