APUPA - a little bliss in every bite — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Since the day we started our food reviewing journey I've been on a quest for a good dessert shop in coimbatore where they don't use any preservatives so that I can satiate my dessert cravings without much guilt! And my hunt finally ended at apupacakes at their sungam trichy road outlet. This place is nothing less than a PARADISE of DESSERTs!!! You heard us right ✨❤️

The tiny cosy lil' cute shop was filled with some really creative, artistic & exquisite variety of exotic pastries & desserts. We were confused on what to try & what to leave cuz we were drawn to every single item at their display as they all looked so appealing & mouth watery. Luckily Madhan who's behind the counter helped us pick & we ended up trying many of em (Still there were so much more left too😭).

They have a mind blowing variety of dry cakes, fresh cream n fondant celebration cakes, A WIDE RANGE OF PASTRIES, Basbousa, Macarons, 12 diff varieties of Cookies, Biscotti, Pies, Donuts, Breads, Savouries, Milkshakes, Sandwiches n much moreeee 🙃 All their food products are made fresh each day, using high quality & premium ingredients. Writing about them now makes me wanna visit again already. Their ambiance is also very beautiful with European styled decor n interiors💜 On the whole, this place has our heart. Its become our favourite dessert place in the city & we recommend every1 with sweet tooth out there in the city to try 'em too✨

Our review for what we tried,

MACARONS - They had some 10 - 12 flavours in total & we tried just 3. Our most favourite was the chocolate but each of em were true to its flavour, smooth n crisp on outside n soft & chewy on inside. Taste was utterly ambrosial 💯

CARAMEL SWISS ROLL - Soooo creamy, butterscotch flavoured chocolate caramel swiss roll cake that's incredibly light n fluffy. Such a delight to the tastebuds🥰

ALMOND TRUFFLE BALL - A rich ball of chocolate & almond truffle . An ultimate delicacy 💯

ALMOND GLAZED CAKE - Delicate, mild yet sweet nutty cake that makes u feel good🙃 PERFECT PAIR FOR TEA/COFFEE ☕

PASSION FRUIT PANNACOTA - Made of passion fruit n its seeds, its a mildly flavoured custard/pudding 🍮 that tastes truly like cold passion fruit itself. Pleasantly tangy & tart, with a tint of sweetness in it.

HONEY BEE PIE - MUST TRY FOR ALL PIE LOVERS our there! With cut cherries inbetween, this was the father of all pies. Really SUPERBBBB👌🏻

TRIFFLE PUDDING - Fresh fruit custard like pudding topped with fresh cream. SOOOOO YUM, must try for ppl who likes fruits in desserts. Im not a big fan of fruits in cakes but i myself fell in love with this instantly❣️

CARAMEL DONUT - Caramel n Chocolate stuffed donut thats big, soft, light, goeey n scrumptious!🍩

CASATTA ROLL - The bestttttt💯 Its a donut like roll filled with chocolate sauce n cashew chunks, served warm. INSANELY DELICIOUS. MUSTTTT TRY👌🏻

APUPA MESS - Made of cotton candy Macarons, this one was a show stopper. So creative, very unique n fascinating. Tasted absolutely amazing!! ✨

BAKED CHEESE - This is a pleasantly unique dessert made of cheese n idk what else. It had a slight tangy finish but also sweet. Smooth velvety texture, creamy n soothingly rich👌🏻👌🏻

RED VELVET CUPCAKE - This was given slightly warm, it was DIVINELY by 🥺 So creamy & tasted like love❤️

MUD CHOCOLATE - It can also be called as Death by chocolate. Served slightly warm, chocolate was overflowing from everywhere in n out. Best for weathers like now🌧️☔

WALNUT BROWNIE - So soft, yet dense, nutty brownie thats...

So I was actually eyeing on this new pastry shop in my locality and got to visit it today. First thing I notice when I enter the shop is the visually striking display of cakes.The cakes just looked beautiful and so did the ambience of the shop-neat and elegant. We also had the chance to interact with the shop’s owner- Anil,a man who has a vast knowledge about pastries and he also explained us all the process which goes into making their recipes .He also offered us Apupa’s best seller cakes for tasting them. We had— ➰Authentic Cheesecake-I’m basically not much of a cheesecake fan as I never liked the induced cheese flavour in pastries.But this one was just top-notch!The cheese flavour was subtle and complimented the cake. ➰Pistachio Macarons-The taste was good,but I was not able to taste any pistachio flavour in it. ➰Carrot Cupcake-The carrot cake was really soft,spongy and tasted delicious but again not being a fan of cream cheese I felt the frosting to be overpowering. ➰Apupa’s Mess- This is basically a mix and match of pastries put-together.The pastry actually had three layer fillings- white chocolate,brownies and chocolate mousse.Absolutely delicious.Must try! ➰We washed it down with a cup of hot chocolate-Perfect balance of flavour,neither too sweet nor bitter! Had been there on Monday 29th Jan evening.

Bakery / Small Cafe with wide variety of cakes and bakes..... Japanese cake, macaroons etc.

Had their veg bun and mushroom puff. Both were decent.

Bought two of their Pav Buns (Laadi Pav). 4 nos in a pack for ₹60. While luckily it was not sweet as is the case with other bakeries in Coimbatore, it surely missed the flavour and aroma of a typical Mumbai Laadi Pav.

Their Sourdough boule at ₹160 is a big disappointment. Not at all a sourdough boule. Surely must have been baked with normal yeast. Missed the slightly sour and tangy flavour of a typical sourdough bread.

Moreover it was made with maida and not whole wheat flour. However this was made clear to us at the counter.

No match at all when compared with the sourdough breads of 5X in Coimbatore.

After we sat down for having the puff and mushroom bun, we realised that they had not billed us for one of the two packs of Pav Buns. We pointed this out to the person at the counter and paid ₹60 for that missed item. He took the cash, but did not raise a bill for it! Wonder how they would reconcile the cash and inventory!

Quite cramped and busy for a Monday evening. Kerb-side...
