UPDATE 2 Nov 2022: I visited again a couple of days ago and tried the mini-breakfast (INR 50/60 US cents) and fell ill the same day culminating with me puking quite badly, what appeared to be the undigested sweet that came with the mini-breakfast, about 12 hours later. However, there is the improbable possibility that something else I ate later that day or something specific to me like an allergy or something that caused this reaction. Something to be aware of. 1 star knocked off my previous rating since it does seem the food from the mini-breakfast that caused this. If I'm wrong, then the mini-breakfast is a very goo deal and the 4-star rating should remain but, as I've said, that seems unlikely.
Just got back from a dine-in. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the area. Recommended.
NOTE: Dosas, vadas, pooris and bature are best ordered and consumed at the restaurant itself. They, especially dosas, don't seem to hold up well to delivery. Foreign nationals and NRIs who've forgotten local standards (like me at times) should be prepared for what I perceive as considerably-lower-than-World-Class standards of hygiene, ambience and serivce. This sort of a restaurant has standards that are somewhat similar to an average, small-town, American diner. That said, there have been improvements in this area over the past 15 years and there are establishments in the so-called "developed" world that are as bad or worse but they're just not the norm: it seems more common here in India. Most people eat with their bare hands here and especially so at local restaurants of this sorts. Stainless steel cutlery is available on request at most establishments if you find using your hands a bother as I do at times. Peak times (especially meal times on holidays) can mean a queue to be seated, shortage of certain dishes etc., so I avoid these restaurants at such times and opt for delivery or some other type of restaurant. Ambience: The seating or dine-in area is air-conditioned, tolerably clean, acceptably comfy and on the 1st floor but the takeaway and sweets/snacks counter is almost right in the middle of the driveway and parking on the ground floor: not inspiring for hygiene if you plan to buy sweets or snacks at the counter there. Handwash area uses sea-water ("salt water") and must not be drunk.
Service/Staff: Typical South Indian vegetarian restaurant service--effective and efficient but not particularly affable given the stress of serving large numbers of people throughout the day. What I did not like was that they insisted I share a table with another patron even though the restaurant was half-empty. That sort of thing should be avoided: always let guests sit where they will when there's plenty of room and adequate staffing.
Food: I ordered the Masala Dosa and Parotta. The dosa and accompanying chutneys and sambar were nice in terms of quality and quantity although the "masala" or filling left a bit (not much) to be desired. To be fair, I haven't come across genuinely high-quality filling for masala dosas for the past 10 years: I believe standards have dropped in certain aspects and the masala dosa filling seems to be one of them. The parottas were okay but I did not like the "kurma" that came with it: tasted alright but seemed a bit suspect as one would expect from restaurant "kurma". Still, goo overall. Typically, the parottas come with an onion raita as well but I told them to skip that since I'm vegan.
Pricing: INR 180/USD 2.25-ish in total for the Masala Dosa and Parottas. Very reasonable by most local, vegetarian restaurant standards.
Bottom line: Recommended. Perhaps avoid the masala dosa and go for the regular or plain dosa instead. Always dine-in for dosas (and perhaps medhu vadas, pooris and bature too) because they're normally much fresher and taste better: delivery doesn't work well for them because they seem to lose their texture very quickly compared to...
Read moreNOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. Rude Staff. SKIP THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU ARE GOING TO EXPECT a DECENT SERVICE WHICH SANGEETHA IS KNOWN FOR. (detailed review below)
Worst ever service. I have always been a fan of Sangeetha Franchise but this particular branch has always disappointed me. Entered at 1.20pm and waited till 1.40 for them to allocate a table for my family but the Blue shirt guy (suppose to be the manager) kept asking me to wait. I kept insisting for a table and finally found one after 30mins. Not because they don't have enough space but they were under employed and incapable management.
Waiter took order and everytime we asked for an update on food, he kept asking us to Wait. Got soup and meals 15mins after thr order was placed. We kept waiting for Rest of the items. Till then I never lost my cool but After waiting for almost 1hour, I lost my patience and shouted at waiter, manager and cashier.
Only after all this, waiter realised that the KOT (kitchen Order Ticket) was not shared to the kitchen at all.
We got our food 10mins post that. Except South Indian meals, none of the Chinese or North Indian items tasted good.
Gobi manchurian was Soft though it was supposed to be crispy. Veg biriyani tasted like Left over Fried rice mixed with vegetables. Paneer Satay was decent but no way close to what we tasted at Thoraipakam Sangeetha or the Navalur one.
Thought of giving this feedback through their official channel but the FEEDBACK QR CODE on the bill,...
Read moreOn 14 Th April we ordered afternoon lunch meals from geetham through Zomato the total bill was 513 rs .. most of the food in the parcel was spoiled like sides, dhal, welcome drink, sambar ,
So I called Zomato and they told they would refund only 131 rs it was not close to my bill amount so I called geetham Ashok Nagar the manager Mr.venkatesh told and agreed that most of the foods were parcels early morning so there are high chances the food would got spoiled and he promised that he will refund the amount also I shared the bill copy.
Today 15 Th of April we want to restaurant for evening snacks and I asked about the status of the refund and the manager was acting as if he never spoke with me and he was asking to contact Zomato. He was irresponsible and keep saying the same thing to contact Zomato.
My question to geetham management , first place the food got spoiled and your manger is not taking responsibility
Your manager Mr Venkatesh agreed to refund the money as he aware that the food got spoiled because of the early morning package
So don’t keep this kind of managers in the restaurant as he don’t have the ability to handle the customers and going false promises
So going further we will not be coming to geetham and o know this will not impact any thing on your daily activities , however atleast your top level management can read this and take necessary steps, as a consumer this should not affect any...
