We had brunch on Sunday (11.11.2018) and very next day on Monday(12.11.2018) we had dinner at your Madras Pavilion. As far the brunch was fine as everything food and drinks (non alcoholic) was included in the buffet price. But the experience we had in our monday dinner buffet at Madras pavilion was disappointing. Before coming for dinner I contacted your restaurant to get the price of drinks they charge as drinks are not included in buffet for Monday dinner. On call they told me INR 360 per person for unlimited drinks (non alcoholic). The day we arrived for dinner I personally spoke to the restaurant manager JOHN, same about the drinks. He totally buttered us with his polite gesture by saying that since you had your brunch here yesterday and again you are here for the next day dinner, he said he will see and get a cost around INR 2000 for unlimited drinks as we were all 10 people including kids. And moreover unwantedly he said as you are a family of 10 people not to worry we will serve you starters and soup on table. The very next moment he sent a lady to get us in the trap of your so called membership. In which we were not interested at all, as food was not up to the mark. As soon as we told no for membership, total scene and behaviour of manager JOHN changed. To begin with he didn't arrange for serving soup on table as he volunteered by himself. we waited for around 15 to 20 mins then we served ourselves. Then as promised he said he will provide us unlimited drinks for approx INR 2000, each and every time we had to ask for drinks that too several times. And after certain time manager himself is coming and saying that they have provided drinks more than the expectation (which was supposed to be UNLIMITED) but actually they served only very limited. The way he came and told, it was totally embarrassing for us because we actually asked for unlimited drinks as per the menu but this guy unnecessarily told he will serve unlimited drinks with a nominal price then why is he not ready to serve as promised. Anyways apart from this what we found fishy is when we had to pay he gave us two different bills. One bill was total of our buffet and other bill was of drinks INR 2250, In the bill it was printed as "PLEASE DO NOT PAY". What I want to know is that INR 2250 is for the restaurant account or for the pockets of the Manager. Anyhow I have paid through card.
To conclude overall food was not as satisfactory as it should be and on the top this disgusting behaviour of the Manager John was totally disappointing to face in such a reputed...
Read moreQuality buffet that's what I would call... Taste being subjective.. There were few dishes I liked and few I did not but every dish tasted the original way... So based on the place you come from.. You would have love dishes indigenous to your place... My favourite were burma chicken soup, gosht dum biryani and cheese cake... Biriyani which was available for first time is the best ever gosht biryani with rich flavor I have tasted.. The mutton are succulent.. And legs filled with enough flesh.. But the second replacement serving was not up to same mark... Overall, they have salads around 3 veg and 3 non veg... One veg soup.. One non veg soup... 3 veg and 3 non veg starters.. No fry and no barbeque starters.. So people who go with idea of BBQ nation / Abq would be disappointed... All starters are either saucy and tandoor cooked... Or baked.. Then you have main course in South Indian and north indian and Chinese ... It basic naan, chicken biryani, veg biryani, butter chicken, fish saucy, prawn chemeen, noodles, fried rice, milagu chicken, keema, potato gravy, curry leaves rice, paneer and tofu gravy, brinjal gravy, curd rice and raita... Next they have ice cream and desserts... 4 varieties of cake... Chocolate pudding, 4 varieties of ice cream caramel, vanilla, chocolate, and orange... Also malupua, laddu, they had.. Overall without much fuss.. A very good buffet with enough options in a very high quality.. Enjoyable for once...
Read moreI were been in chennai for more than 11 years. While I cross this place, I used to dream to have food atleast once here. It's such a hype in my mind.
But while I visited here. Am totally surprised with disappointment. Firstly, I will have to tell the ambience is soo good and the inner marble looks like am in some premium place. It's worth the hype.
But I haven't visited this place just for ambience but to have lunch buffet in Madras Pavilion.
First of all, the place of this restaurant is itself not so good. It's very conjusted and small place. Am sitting in a chair and it is too close to some stall. People always walk near me. The table which we sat was not in level. It is keep on shaking.
Then the dishes, variety was very very less compared to some typical buffet places. That's OK it's premium place. Atleast that less variety should be good to eat right? That's not and am totally disappointed by that moment. Most of the dishes are at below average in taste including desserts.
Trust me usual buffet BBQ like abs BBQ, coal bbq etc is far far better that this in terms of variety and taste.
Am pretty sure that who ever visit here only focusing on food, you will be disappointed.
You charged 400rs for a 40rs sprite tin. If you are that much premium, you should justify it...
