We found this place while walking aimlessly on the 5th Avenue Road. There were lot of people crowded at the entrance of the shop and when I saw the board I realized it's a Chaat eatery. A crowded place at the evening time is a good sign for the place and seeing that it is fair to assume that the quality of the food will be good. We (My wife and I) ordered a Bhel Puri, Channa Cutlet and Sev Puri. These three items put together cost us 110/-. A decent price when compared to a place like Ajnabee in OMR Street (We are regulars at this place). The quality of the food is good but it definitely can get better. The Sev was thick and almost had the home made feel to it. The Chaat items were good to eat but they did not stand out. Also the hygiene of the place wasn't the best. Well, I know you shouldn't expect hygiene from a road side shop but can't help it. Based on the quality the price could have been lesser.
Verdict - If you are nearby to 5th Avenue and are longing for Chaat food this is a good place to try. Don't go searching for it, you might not find...
Read moreone of the oldest north indian food shop, i'd say chart shop. but the taste and quality is still good and authentic, the prepare everything at the door step of the shop, has many varieties of chart items, also sweets.and chappati too, very peaceful locations, best place for family and friends with whom you wanna get chart, coffee and tea also available, everything available hot and ready, parcels are available.
the cons of this shop is they dont have chairs to sit and eat, and could not visit with cars, no issues for two wheelers, parking at owners risks, also no shelter for customer, open and self served, and price also bit more for the every item, have to wait in line for water as they have only one drinking water can,
i recommend you to have a visit at evening times, as they prepared all items, but you'll feel experience some crowds, thanks and have a...
Read morethis place has been there for over 30 years now. Nothing has changed with the place. That taste and flavour has always been the same, off course not the cost. I remember I used to have paani puri at 5 rupees 25 years ago. This is a must try for every Chennai resident. But I would like to request the owner that it is time, he modifies the place to make it more hygienic. Please don't cook under that tree outside:-) Please clean up that sync outside :-) Please don't provide tea using that small tumblers instead use paper cups (because sometimes those tumblers are not cleaned up properly). See...i know every part of this shop :-) And guys, when you order bhel puri or chenna puri/samosa, please insist to add black salt to finish. It brings a lovely and heavenly taste to the dish :-) Happy...
