This is one of the best pan-Asian restaurants in Chennai. Not just one but every one of their dishes were curated to perfection and we had no regrets at all.
Soto Ayam Madura soup - A mild peppery soup filled with shallots, boiled eggs, chicken, and herbs. This was smooth, rich, and flavourful, very gentle on the tummy, and was on a different level altogether 😄
Chicken potstickers - Almost like a momo but curated very well; soft and very silky on the outside with chunks of chicken mixed with scallions. There was a hint of ginger but with the chili oil dip, this had flavors bursting all around 😊
Firecracker beef - Best beef starter I've had in a long while; mildly spiced beef strips tossed in aromatic spices with some chilies all the way. This was crunchy yet tender along the way, coated well in the sauces, very fragrant, and saturated with loads of herbs 😍
Jasmine prawns - Perfectly fried prawns tossed in an exquisite aroma of Sichuan pepper & garlic with some jasmine leaves. This seldom had a foul smell, and had a crunchy texture on the outside while buttery on the inside, surprisingly LOVED IT!! 🥰
Vietnamese pho beef noodle bowl - Spiced broth with silky rice noodles topped with tender beef and loads of flavors from the spices. On first contact with the taste buds, this made a statement that - I'd be the best noodle bowl you've ever tasted!!!
True, this was mildly spiced so I needed some more chili oil to escalate the fragrance, excellent soupy consistency, and with the chili, this was TOP NOTCH. The crunchy veggies, smooth flat rice noodles, and meat were perfectly cooked; a bit spicy at times but tangy from the lime, WOW!!! 😘
Tom yum Chicken fried rice - SO GOOD fried rice which was sour from the kaffir lime, spicy from the Thai chili, and sweet from the honey chili dip; it was all which is needed in making a bowl of perfect fried rice. The chicken was tender while the smoky flavors were hitting all around courtesy, The Wok. 😋
Located in the heart of Chennai on one of the busiest roads, this place is easy to locate but do not let the exterior fool you. They're quaint on the outside with one red door but once you enter it feels like a Thai palace on the inside. It is located on the first level with sufficient seating space and valet parking too.
They have open counters throughout their kitchen which satisfies anyone who would love to see what's cooking inside. The embellishments and the color tone of this place worked perfectly for their menu and their service was spot-on. Table booking is recommended since it gets busy during peak hours. Finally, on the price front, they're quite expensive but their food does great justice to...
Read moreSoi Soy – This relatively new restaurant is great for going out for a pleasant meal and is for people who would want to try something different. It’s Pan-Asian cuisine ensures that it has a selection suitable for every taste bud while ensuring it’s refreshing and exciting. Though the prices are on the higher side, the variety that it offers more than makes up for it.
Wasabi prawn and crab meat dumpling – 425 A fan of Momos? If you are, then be sure to try out this delicacy which has the subtle taste of the prawn and crab meat, mildly flavored, and the intense hit of wasabi. A great starter though a bit on the expensive side.
Korean fried chicken bao – 375 A Bao is a yeast filled bun. As the name implies, this bao is filled with a tangy and spicy fried chicken which goes well with the mild sweetness of the pao. Go for it if you don’t mind having something which is both sweet and spicy, good for the price.
Coconut and lemon grass panna cotta – 275 A panna cotta, to put it simply, is a gelatinous pudding made with condensed milk. The consistency was on point and the taste of the lemon grass (which can overpower the dish) was on point and the additional hint of coconut keeps things sweet.
Kappa Makki (Cucumber and Cream cheese sushi) – 375 Sushi needs no introduction. For people who are averse to the thought of having raw fish, this sushi is a perfect starter for people who would want to try Sushi for the first time. A simple sushi filled with just cucumber and cream cheese. Priced on the higher side considering the ingredients, but cheap considering its Sushi.
Jasmine Sichuan Prawn – 425 The highlight of the entire meal, a plate full of spiced and wonderfully flavored prawns. Nothing extravagant in terms of flavor, but the Sichuan paste/sauce had the perfect amount of spice which brought the entire dish together.
Japanese cheese cake – 275 Trust me, you have never had cheese cake like this. Just one word to describe this dish, FLUFFY!! Rather than having the cake made from cold cream cheese, this has the look of a hot traditional sponge cake. Perfect consistency and no regrets in having ordered 3 of these to indulge in. The only con, it took them a while to prepare this dish (30 mins approx., not sure if this was specific to the day that I had visited) so would suggest you to order this as soon as you are seated in the restaurant....

5/5 Japanese Cheescake - Was expecting a really eggy tasting thing, but even if it is composed of a lot of egg whites there is not a hint of egg in the cake. It was soft and light. Don't expect this to taste like a American cheesecake, as Japanese cheesecakes barely use any cheese. Loved the yuzu sauce, stewed plums and the delightful honey ginger ice cream. I understand that the crumble was added for texture contrast, but it nearly destroys the whole dish. It tastes like some very compacted Horlick's malted milk powder. This overpowers the other subtle flavors. The chef should skip this entirely. If a crumble is needed, there is definitely a much better alternative flavoring and texture that could be included.
5/5 Rendang chicken - The portion is small but it is rich. The chicken was perfectly cooked and didn't taste raw. The flavor of the rendang sauce is fantastic.
3/5 Chicken Bao - Classic case of boiled chicken, instead of proper fried chicken. I don't understand why places in Chennai boil and then try to fry the chicken afterwards. It leads to an un-crispy lump. The sauce was ok but did little to help elevate the boiled chicken.
3.5/5 Char kway teo - Like the addition of basil , albeit a tad too much is added. The vegetarian version has a colorful variety of crisp veggies. This is not authentic in the slightest and has too much soy sauce. Had to ask for the kitchen to remake.
3/5 Tea leaf salad- Have eaten in a lot of Burmese restaurants in Burma and in California. This one is not authentic. It is too soggy and the tea leaves are more of a background flavor and not the star. I was eating a lot of lettuce leaves and the flavor was quite muted.
3/5 Chicken chili wonton- No chicken chili wonton will ever come close to Din Tai Fung's, but with that being said, this still tastes far too bland. I didn't receive a kick from the chili oil and sauce. The seasoning for the wonton itself was minimal. It...
