A Truly Disappointing Experience: Unprofessionalism Plagues Sree Gupta Bhavan
My recent visit to Sree Gupta Bhavan was, unfortunately, a significant letdown, primarily due to the utterly unprofessional conduct of a senior staff member. While the rest of the team displayed a commendable level of consideration and hard work, one individual's behavior single-handedly ruined the dining experience.
Throughout my meal, this particular head staff member I observed. He yelled at the other waiters in public. This wasn't a discreet correction; it was a loud, uncalled-for display of aggression that completely shattered any semblance of a pleasant dining ambiance. It's truly baffling to witness such unwarranted reprimands, especially when the junior staff seemed to be doing their best. This constant, public berating creates a deeply uncomfortable atmosphere for both customers and employees alike.
Adding to the frustration is the significant language barrier. Most of the staff seem to struggle with English, and even basic Tamil communication is a challenge for many. This made ordering and clarifying simple requests unnecessarily difficult.
What truly pushed this experience into a one-star rating, however, was the blatant and unprofessional pursuit of reviews. I witnessed the same senior staff member practically begging customers for reviews and then, even more astonishingly, attempting to dictate the rating. In one instance, a customer genuinely offered a four-star rating, only to be relentlessly questioned why it wasn't five stars, with the staff attempting to coerce a higher score. This level of incompetence and disregard for customer opinion is simply unacceptable. A true five-star experience is earned through quality service and genuine satisfaction, not through badgering and manipulation. However, this review is written with multiple visits to this restaurant (4).
While I want to commend the general staff for their efforts and considerate demeanor, the actions of this one individual, combined with the aggressive review-seeking tactics, make it impossible to recommend Sree Gupta Bhavan. Until these significant issues with management and professionalism are addressed, this establishment falls far short of an enjoyable dining experience. The bakery and sweets shop downstairs can be disregarded of this review as they were wonderful with assisting me during my visits over the course of a week. They are more than happy to help and recommend, which makes their sweets shop a pleasant experience in comparison to their...

• This isn’t the first time, it’s happened to me 2-3 times before. None of them care about customers. Actually to be specific, they only care about a large number of customers (like a group of friends, a big family) rather than a small number (like 2 people).
• No attention at all, they don’t respect all customers equally.
• During my recent visit, what we ordered came late, indeed it came only after we reminded one of them that it’s been so long we placed the order. And they missed a couple dishes among what we ordered.
• Food is so average, nothing really to brag about, but the price for each dish only is so high 😂🤦🏻♀️
• After our meal, we had to wait for so long for our check, none of them even cared to turn an eye to our table, BUT they attended to our next table which was a “big family”. So we had to walk up to the cash counter to pay.
• Even there, the guy sitting in the counter was on his phone watching reels. Without even lifting his head up, he extended the QR code when we asked for it. After we paid, he handed over the receipt, and he didn’t lift his head up at all till the end! Not even for courtesy!!
• Better hire Tamil people for work, also “those who know to respect people”, than hiring vadakkans who can’t understand the native language and “doesn’t know basic manners”.
IDK about other branches, but this one honestly has nothing much to say about. THE WORST EXPERIENCE AT ANY RESTAURANT...
