We went here after the temple visit for a quick breakfast. Looks like an old place and not well maintained either. I didn’t receive a menu as the waiter was trying to sell their breakfast thaali which has a bit of everything but we chose to eat Idlis. The server brought everything on one plate and 2 empty plates and served it in front of us. No gloves and he didn’t even hesitate to pinch and remove something from one of the idlis. In this era where cleanliness is everything I was flabbergasted. I must say I understand the concept of serving with bare hands but I am ok with my parents doing it and not a stranger who is touching everything around. Ate the food gingerly because we ordered. It wasn’t tasty either so it’s a no no for me. Especially with all the flies hovering around my plate. Coffee wasn’t good either as my parents didn’t have beyond two sips.

During my recent stay in Thanjavur, I had the pleasure of dining at Sri Krishna Bhavan, located conveniently near the majestic Brihadeeswarar Temple. The experience was a highlight of my visit the restaurant offers a clean, welcoming ambiance and serves truly authentic South Indian vegetarian cuisine. I particularly enjoyed their traditional thali meal served on a banana leaf, as well as their crisp dosas and flavorful parathas. The staff were courteous and attentive, making every meal feel homely and relaxed. An added delight was their in-house souvenir shop, which featured beautiful brass idols, Thanjavur dancing dolls, and local crafts a perfect touch of the region’s culture. Whether for breakfast, lunch, or a quick snack, Sri Krishna Bhavan offered a wholesome and satisfying dining experience that complemented my stay in this culturally rich town.

This hotel is very close to the Big temple. They have their own private parking for cars and bikes. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with a proper ramp. But do ask the security about the location of the ramp as the security guy does not suggest it on his own. We asked my mom to climb two steps with great difficulty while entering from side entrance but while leaving used the ramp at the front entrance near bike parking and it was much easier then. Their AC dining section is right next to the souvenir/gift shop so there is lot of cool things to view. Lot of variety in food options (veg). I had a paper masala dosa. The hot badam milk was very good. The service by the wait staff was very good. Also, if you dine here you get a coupon/voucher for buying things from the gift shop. So,. definitely eat first and then do gift shopping.

Terrible Service & No Basic Hospitality!

I had one of the worst dining experiences at Sri Krishna Bhavan KRA Complex. The service was absolutely pathetic—they didn’t even bother to switch on the fan, making it extremely uncomfortable to sit and eat. When I asked for a water glass, the staff completely ignored my request. It felt like they didn’t care about customer comfort at all.

To make things worse, the servers brought food items that I never ordered and then tried to charge me for them. When I pointed it out, they hesitated to correct the bill. They even demanded a service charge despite their poor service.

The food was nothing special, and the overall experience was frustrating. If this is how they treat customers, I won’t be visiting again. Absolutely not recommended!

⭐ 0/5 – Avoid this place unless you want to be ignored and...
