This restaurant features chinese/thai cuisine . The options are very limited but sumptuous. We been there twice or thrice as the food is really good here. the last time we went in, we booked via dine out but noticed the prices were almost double -not sure if they have a separate menu for dineout bookings or if their prices really shot up so fast.
We typically go for a mix of fish, chicken, and lamb starters. On our most recent visit, I tried the XO Fish Fingers, which fell short of expectations. It had a bit of fish smell and tasted bland except for the soy sauce coated around. However during our previous visit we've ordered steamed fish with lemon coriander sauce which was excellent—fresh, light, and without any fishy odor, but I'd call it more more poached than steamed.
Chicken starters that we had were -satay or thai wish grill, i guess they are both the same, not sure. It tasted good. Teriyaki tenderloin was also good and the quantity was just right for 2 of us.
Moving on to mains, we usually alternate between Nasi Goreng, Thai fried rice, and noodles. No matter what we’ve ordered, these dishes have consistently delivered in both taste and quality and quantity.
Since the options are limited ,that's all we had to order. Moving on to deserts we had water chestnut with coconut milk first time and since then I've always skipped the deserts here as it dint taste good.
Overall, Scallion is a solid choice for flavourful Asian fare in a calm setting. The menu is limited as is the seating capacity- but I guess that's okay! and while not every dish is a hit, the experience overall has been quite satisfying—just watch out for pricing differences depending on whether you book directly or via...

Dining at The Scallion was a delightful experience, offering an elegant blend of flavors and presentation. The restaurant has a warm, inviting ambience that sets the tone for a memorable meal.
We started with the vegetable spring rolls (5/5) – perfectly crisp on the outside with a deliciously seasoned filling inside. The lemon coriander soup (5/5) was another standout, light yet incredibly flavorful, leaving a refreshing aftertaste. For mains, the Thai basil fried rice (5/5) was a complete winner – aromatic, well-balanced, and bursting with authentic Thai flavors. The veg crystal dimsum (5/5) was delicate, beautifully crafted, and absolutely melt-in-the-mouth. For dessert, we tried the black sticky rice (3/5), which didn’t quite appeal to my palate. Additionally, the dessert options overall felt a little limited, and that’s one area where I wish there were more choices to explore. Overall: A fantastic dining experience with exceptional starters and mains that truly shine. If you’re looking for authentic Asian flavors in Chennai, The Scallion is worth a visit. With a slightly wider dessert spread, it could easily be a...
Read moreWe went there yesterday with couple of team mates (and friends). We were asked to sit in a place which looked like a small conference/team room. No proper AC. There where a bunch of menus we ordered some starters. We ordered prawns, chicken, crab, mushroom. Even though all these has different names, it all tasted exactly the same. Batter fried with all the available sauces. Next we ordered Tandoori prawn. Even Tandoori prawn was batter fried. Veg biryani tasted of just beans. Chicken biryani was ok. And for 9 people it costed 26k. They also claimed corporate discount is only available if the booking is done with it. I mean what's the big deal here. Cost apart. The food is terrible. Except for desserts may be. Service was good enough. Please don't even think about this. There is much better places for relatively lower price and much...
