D’Crêpes Cafe — Restaurant in Thane

D’Crepes ... definitely they do stand by their name . D’Crepes have 3 outlets in Mumbai . We chose the Vasant Vihar one at Thane to kickoff our weekday blues for dinner . They serve some amazing variety of crepes be it savoury or sweet . They rule both the worlds . One can even make their own crepini or pasta by customisations according to the preference by selecting from 6 steps of customisation . They’re not only limited to crepes though ... the menu is wide for foodies to binge on . From burgers to sandwiches to fresh salads to desserts they have it all .

LOCATION : D’crepes is located at Vasant Vihar , Thane . One of the most hustling & bustling locality ! Situated at Emerald Plaza , Hiranandani Meadows .

AMBIENCE : Interiors are pretty simple and the place surely has that happy vibe all around . There’s soothing slow music playing in the background . They have small book shelf for all the readers out there . They’ve seating arrangements both inside and outside.

SERVICE : Service wins a brownie point . Staff is really very helpful and courteous. Service is prompt & attentive . Special thanks to Mr. Thomas .

BEVERAGES ⭐️Malt-Tini - Served in cute lil beaker glasses . We loved this one for sure . Malt syrup perfectly mixed with soda , lemon and fresh mint . I’m sure this one you won’t get anywhere in and around Thane .

⭐️Jalapeño Lemonade - Lovely balance of lemonade , fresh mint leaves , finely chopped jalapeños sprinkled with some flavourful spice powder . Oh so refreshing !

STARTERS : ⭐️Paneer In Spicy Spinach Basil Sauce - Another hit dish we tried . The taste was extremely different from any normal paneer starter . Finger sized paneer sticks tossed in Spinach puree along with some basil leaves , onion , bell peppers , spring onion and lemon grass . It was scrumptious .

SOUP : ⭐️Broccoli Spinach Soup - Soup is normally made out of veggie stock ! But this one was different ! Made up of spinach puree and milk with some garlic and finely chopped broccoli served piping hot along lavash ! Ahh ! What a breeze !

SAVOURY CREPES ⭐️ Verdura - The dilemma was real when it came to choose Crepes. Mr.Thomas was quick to suggest us . As we’re vegetarians he suggested to head with ‘Verdura’ to which we nodded a yes . And viola ! He didn’t disappoint us . There are 2 option to choose the crepe batter ... Classic (made up of Refined flour , WWFlour , Milk etc) Another one is Buckwheat Flour (buckwheat aka kuttu in hindi , water and salt and yeah it’s glutton free😉) We chose buckwheat one of course . Crepe was made to utter perfection just the right amount of thickness . It had an finger licking delicious filling of brocolli , sautéed onion , zucchini , baby corn , cream cheese , bell peppers accompanied with balsamic dressing , greens and sour cream . What a lovely wholesome dish it was . Highly Recommended !!

SWEET CREPES ⭐️The Nutella - Once again we had to choose from the 1 out of 2 batter options . This time we tried the Classic one . And yeah ! Who doesn’t love nutella ! We all love right ! This one definitely was loved by us what an amazing ride to oceans of Nutella this crepe gave me 😍 Topped with some whipped cream ! Absolutely Sinful !

DESSERT : ⭐️Austrian Mud Pie - What a chocolaty sinful delish ! Made up of dark chocolate cremaux , soft crusty delicious pie base loaded with chocolate ganache !! It was pure indulgence ! Loved every single bite of it .

D' Crepes near The Walk

D'Crepes is a small cafe, about a 7 minutes walk away from my home. I remember the first time I went there with my kids. About 4/5 years back.

It had just started operations. I had ordered a coffee and a sandwich I think. The owner's uncle was present there that day. He asked me to try their crepe. I declined politely and said I was not sure I would like it. He gave us our sandwiches and coffee, etc.

And a crepe on the side :) "Please try it," he said.

Of course, it was a brilliant crepe. But what impressed me more was their personal touch.

Ever since, we have been regular patrons. It is my 2nd living room. It is the place where I hide with a book and a coffee. They make my coffee just the way I want it. And over a period, I don't have to specify it. They will serve me just the way I need it.

Before Swiggy, when I got stuck at work, I could call them and ask them to deliver food to my house. Or if my kids want a small cake and milk shake treat with friends, I could ask DC to please bear with them and I could pay when I reached. We make impromptu dinner plans here and they always , so effortlessly, cater to my whims. Over time, we built a bond of trust.

So much so that my kids tease me saying only they know how to cook for Amma! With them, I don't feel like I'm at a cafe. Well, they make the bestest pasta. The shepherd's pie is total comfort food. Their salads are wonderfully flavoured. They have an apple crepe which can be a perfect dinner with a black coffee.

Last week, we ordered some food after a long time, and they sent me complimentary cinnamon rolls :) I felt that they remember me. They remember that its my favourite thing :)

They didn't have to do it, and all three of us almost had tears in our eyes when we saw it. We miss this little cafe. Business is more than money; it can be about relationships.
