Maiz, A(Maiz)ed me and for all the wrong reasons! Had been there today for lunch with my friend, we ordered Avocado toast, Hard shell Tacos, Mexican fries, Paneer Chipotle Burritos & Iced Lattes. It leaves a deep hole in your pocket along with a void in your tummy and vacuum in your heart. The avocado toast priced at 229 is just a single piece of toast, along with mashed avocados and 2-3 cherry tomatoes on top, they tasted fine but they just weren’t enough to fill your tummy or heart. I literally had to double check with the waiter if that was the portion size or he’s going to get more. The French fries looked more like leftover of someone else’s plate and they were priced at 229 as well, the taste wasn’t that great to match up for the overpricing. We were served the blandest of iced latte, devoid of any sugar and had to request twice for sugar sachets along with stirrers. The lattes as the name suggest are supposed to be made with milk, but just like sugar, looks like the Maiz team forgot to add milk as well, so we were slurping caffeine, sugar and ice cubes in a liquid medium. The burrito was better compared to the other tragedies, but can’t say if it was better all on its own or it tasted better because the others were mishaps. Anyway, this was the first and last time for us at Maiz. So for folks, who aren’t bothered about the portion size or the price charged for it, Maiz is all yours, but for folks like me, it’s Nay,...
Read moreMaiz offers you a Subway-ish Mexican experience in your locality.
We dropped by for a quick bite an tried out the Barbeque Chicken Burrito Bowl. You start by ordering at the Subway-style counter - starting out with the type of rice, then your main protein (chicken or paneer), moving on to toppings - veggies, sauces and sour cream. Don't forget the salsa - it's delish!
Note: You might want to avoid the black beans if you're not used to then - they turn you really gassy and uncomfortable later.
For drinks, we tried an Iced Lemon Tea which being premixed, had a strange tinge to it. Coffee should have been the better option.
They've seem to have gotten the pricing right and the ambience is great - vibrant and quirky like you'd imagine Mexico. Even though we visited late evening, there weren't too many people.
I've missed the feeling of authentic Mexican without having to travel a whole lot - thanks for bringing it to my...
Read moreGood Mexican Food you can have. Kinda similar concept of subway. Full of fresh vegetable and tender soft juicy chicken this place has a great ambience and a power outlet at each table, even to the outside seating, so you can work as well as you can eat and that’s very thought full of them. So I had the chipotle hard shell taco, I expected it to be spicy as they recommended the same for spicy but it was 1/5 on spice level but it tastes good the chicken was juicy and tender, felt a bit low on chicken and I had the Cali Quesadilla in chicken, it’s a classic crepe toasted with cheese capsicum onion and chicken served two dips which just adds to the flavour. The staff is extremely polite and very friendly. Definitely you can try out Maiz for...
