Location: Located in Hiranandani Estate, Thane West. It’s approx. 11kms from Thane Railway Station. You can reach here by Auto or Bus. The entrance has a good archway, easy to locate and has a small pathway, where you can see some people taking selfies.
Food: Mainly for meant for Non-Vegetarians or Sea Food Lovers, serves both veg and non-veg dishes. We tried Mutton Shorba (250 Rs) – Good, bit spicy, serves two/ Prawns Malvan Tawa Fry (625 Rs) – ok, very spicy, 8-10 pieces / Crab boneless (625 Rs) – Good, it’s like Keema. Bhakri (Rs. 40), Butter Roti (Rs. 45) – ok. Well the food is not anywhere near to the Malvan style, what the chef is done to make everything spicy, instead of making it tasty.
Family & Kids – Recommended for family, it has small place for kids to play in the lawn with seesaw, swing and slide with three additional activities where they charge 10 Rs. per activity.
Drinks & Smoking – you can smoke just outside the entrance of restaurant. We requested for Long Island Iced Tea (Rs. 699) – compare to other restaurants this was less diluted. Mineral water bottle will cost you Rs. 40.
Music/Live Screening- The restaurant has big screen in the lawn where they typically play Indian songs, and also they have live performance/music. You can give song request to the singer.
Staff: It seems the staff is more courteous towards big group, look like they, especially the managers are more concern about the business at present instead of providing equal service to all patrons.
Ambience: The ambience is very good, has three seating options - AC hall, within the lawn and surrounding the lawn are seats with chandelier on the top. The seating arrangement in the lawn can accommodate 4 to 6 people and is at the centre of the restaurant. However, the table are bit small for four people and the chairs are not so good.
Payment- Cash/Cards/UPI all accepted.
Parking: The restaurant as such don’t have any parking space, but outside there is ample place to park your cars/bikes.
Hygiene: The place is kept clean and has separate restrooms for males and females. It’s located outside main restaurant and is clean.
Overall Rating: 7 The best part of the restaurant is it’s ambience, but the seating arrangement in the lawn needs improvement. Although we have not tasted more than 3-4 dishes, but look like they need to make food tastier then just making it spicy. (Rating Criteria, basis Food quality & taste, ambience and staff behaviour: 10-Outstanding / 9-Excellent / 8-Very Good/ 7-Good/6-Better than Average/5-Average/4-Below Average/3-Poor/2-Bad/1-Awful)
Who Should Visit: Recommended for people staying/visiting in and around Thane & Mulund area. Even people from Mumbai/Navi Mumbai/Kalyan/MMR can visit, however recommend to wait for some more time as apart from a good ambience, there is no other strong reason to visit this place. Tourist or travellers from outside may skip the place from their list of...
Read moreThe first thing that came to mind after eating here is This is not a authentic Malvani restaurant. Since I am from that region it means from Konkan; I know the taste of Malvani food. It was something else that they served in the name of Malvani cuisine. We visited around 2:30 in the afternoon. The open restaurant was somewhat closed and it was hot and humid outside so we sat in the AC dining hall. The ambiance was good but they didn't have a hand wash area inside the dining hall which was annoying. You need to touch the door handle to open the door again after washing with soap. There is no one to open the door for you. We ordered fried fish like Surmai and Bombil but we were disappointed with the way they fried them. There was less salt n spice in the fried fish. Another thing we ordered was Rawas curry malvani style. It was absolutely not in malvani style. The taste was a bit better than the fried fish but was a bit salty also. Rice bhakari was ordered along with the fish curry. Bhakari was good. One more thing ordered was Kolambi Bhat (Prawns Rice). It was also too salty. I don't know how the chef forwarded the dish without tasting it. The prawns were overcooked. So, the overall food experience was not so good. Now about the service. No one bothers to ask or give you water. In any restaurant water is the first item to be served when you sit on the chair. The waiter asked us about regular water or bottled water. We said regular water. He took our order and vanished for forever. No one gave water despite three to four repeated requests. When I choked with the spices and eyes filled with the tears my wife shouted and asked for the water, then we obliged to have the water. Very annoying incident. All the time we spent over here to have our above said lunch was one and half hour. Means very slow service. There are too many waiters over here but no one bothers to attend you unless you asked them for something. Little thing to mention that they serve liquor and liquore also. I didn't order as I was with my family and I was the only to drive the car. Yes, forgot to say that they have valet parking too. Don't ask about the rates for dining over here. They are a little bit on the higher side as this restaurant is in Hiranandani Estate Thane. There are much more good and pocket friendly restaurants in the vicinity of Thane city than this one. Yes of course if you are born with the golden or silver spoon in your mouth and have not visited any authentic Malvani restaurant or Konkan region before, you may definitely...
