One of the very few places on the outskirts of Chennai with a beach facing and a bar (hangout) setup. To start with, their ambience is amazing and a dinner by the shore with perfect weather would make it BLISSFUL. The sound of the waves with jazz music, WOW, was great both times I visited. ๐ฅฐ
Calamari Fritters - Beer battered calamari with spice dust, no stench smell, and the crispness was retained on the outside with soft meat on the inside, GREAT START ๐
Chennai central lamb - Soft dum cooked lamb with local masala, perfect as a side but the meat could've been cooked better rather than only sauteed ๐
Chicken skewers - Turned cold the moment it was at the table, maybe it was the weather but the meat could've been marinated better with more flavor infusion ๐
BBQ Chicken Pizza - A typical chicken pizza with sweet BBQ sauce; no hint of basil or sundried tomatoes though, a bit stale taste from the chicken (like the frozen meat) ๐ค
Dal Makhani - Creamy black lentil stew cooked to perfection; mild spiced, healthy, went well with the rice, a bit sweet and sour from the cream and methi ๐
Cajun spiced smashed chicken burger with wedges - Double smashed chicken patty with cajun, cheese, and fried onion; was supposed to be great but the chicken was cold and it was evident that it was processed, the cheese didn't even melt while the veggies were raw, UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT ๐ค
Mustard Broccoli - Large florets saturated well in white mustard; a bit buttery and saucy on the while, GOOD ๐
Fatty pepper fry - Baby potatoes fried well and were crispy, tempered well with pepper and native Indian spices, FLAVORFUL ๐
They've got limited seating so table booking is recommended all the time. Valet parking is available at Intercontinental and a short stroll by the pool is all it takes to reach the spot. Their waiters were on their toes most of the time with decent service. But, this is not the place to try out new/unique food since it is all about the bar. Their Quality: Price ratio is in shambles with nothing new around. Maybe, once in a blue moon only for the beach and...

It was my wife's b'day that we wanted to celebrate in a peaceful & calm ambience. We were family of 4 ppl including a kid of age 6. The ambience needless to say was on "shore" it is mindblowing to have a peaceful & calm environ. along with tasty and quality food.
Though the prices are high the taste, quality and quantity makes up to it ofcourse the sea view.
It could be a great choice for romantic dinner date. They serve cocktails and mocktails along with great food.
Their Pizzas are TOPNOTCH - Must try
The one who took care of our ordere was Mr. SRIKAT he was very polite and kept us at peace. We were struggling to make an order bcoz we wanted to try new thimgs but, we didn't want to make a bad choice which won't suit our South indian tastebud. Mr. SRIKAT helped us in making good choice by explaining the ingredients and quantity of the food. Kudos to him and the whole team.
Overall every single staff in "The continental, Chennai, Mahabs" were very polite and their hospitality is worth mentioning.
Irrespective of ppl of different economic backgrounds anybody who seems to behave courteous among other ppl (foreigners) are treated with same respect and attention. We've been to places were the locals are not treated properly but, here they cater to every single need of yours. This is a step forward in hospitality department and worth appreciating.
Eventhough they serve alcohol, those ppl won't disturb us in anyway. Everybody holds their dignity and the Hotel Management is very keen abt individual privacy and comfort.
Price: It could easily be Rs.1800 - 2000/ person. But, worth for a spl day with ur spl one.
Tc enjoy. Will...
ย ย ย Read moreOverview: Very modern and beautiful hotel with a substandard resturant. Let me start by saying that both the food and service at this place is the worst I have ever seen especially when an establishment is associated with such a well known 5 start hotel brand like Intercontinental. As an IHG member I am deeply shocked to see a resturant like this exists within Intercon property. Location : Simply awesome to sit at the beach and enjoy the food and drinks while watching and enjoying the waves. Service: We are greeted at the hotel lobby by an amazing welcome that completely disappears as you walk towards this resturant. The service by the crew felt substantially low in comparison, it felt the people there are completely lost of what they are expected to do. The service staffs has zero service attitude, no smile at all. Almost all of them seems to show grumpy face, it was so annoying to see when you are sitting at the beach with friends and family and want to enjoy the time. Food : Then comes the food, with everything that we ordered, we felt they lack the quality and taste we expect, the masala were under cooked. After ordering few small bites and eating them we decided not to order any other items as almost all felt that way. My final verdict on this resturant is that it's simply a place not worth second visit. The amount you pay here could give you much better options at other beachfront restaurants. My whole family were disappointed with this visit so surely it won't be a second time for us at least...
