The front of house employee was very visibly annoyed at me for not having whatsapp set up yet which is needed to view their menu, and for paying in cash, which didn't set a great tone for the experience, felt rather unwelcoming, but whatever. Vegetable pakora was okay, not the best I've had but also not the worst, price is a similar story. The balcony is cute and there's a limited free library.    Read moreOn the 5th floor of The Hosteller Upper Tapovan, there is an independently owned and operated cafe called The Uptown Cafe. It is not affiliated with Hosteller but you still get a 10% discount if you're staying with the Hosteller, which is great. The food and service here are both super nice, welcoming and friendly! Abhishek, the cafe manager, his colleague who's name I forgot (he has the cutest Shih Tzu) and their staff are all fantastic! The food is equally delicious. Don't go by their menu, they DO NOT serve non-veg under the pretence of different things. Since there is no option around while you are staying in The Hosteller, Upper Tapovan in Rishikesh (another poor option to choose), please try and order your food from the outside if delivered.
