A Tavola Con Te — Restaurant in Uttarakhand

A fully vegetarian authentic Italian restaurant in the foothills of the Himalayas? A big yes! A few minutes drive from Laxman Jhula in Rishikesh, a dear friend recommended this restaurant and we decided to go here for our last night in Rishikesh dinner. I am so glad we came here. It's one of the best Italian food I have had in India. Definitely on par with some of the best 5 star restaurants... And i liked the pizza here as much as cafe vishala which I totally swear by. The only downside being they make the base with white flour... But it was good enough that it warranted a cheat.

The cannelloni and lasagna were melt in the mouth delicious. The amount of cheese was perfect. Not overwhelming and not stingy. The pasta was great. They had a gluten free version of this as well.

The ambience was v nice. Open air seating with real kerosene lamps unfortunately spoiled by stark white lighting. There was a group of people dining there some.of whom played the jemba and a fiddle. We were treated to a fantastic job session as we ate our dinner.

They allow smoking which is a pity as it really spoils the atmosphere for the rest of us...

A pet rabbit wanders around begging for pizza crust scraps. He loves to be petted and likes to be picked up.

The true test of an Italian restaurant is in the Panna Cotta... They pass with flying colours!

Though I must admit that their chocolate mousse was even better than the Panna Cotta... Rich, velvety smooth and made with delicious dark chocolate.

The prices are very decent. Around Rs 300 for lasagna or pizza. Everything else hovering around there... The portions are generous too. We totally enjoyed our meal! Great food and super company make a fantastic evening out.

We ate and ate and we were eight adults and a kid... The bill was around Rs 3k... Super reasonable for such a great quality meal.

One warning - Their service is super slow. Don't come here in a hurry... Come for a lazy scrumptious evening and you will go back happy and satiated.

Would I come here again? Yes! On cheat days... Coming here too often would be disaster for my fitness goals... But it's a perfect piece of Italian heaven in rishikesh.

Edit: Came here again and were a little disappointed. Too much salt in the white sauce elicited the response that we make it in butter. Well, you should use unsalted butter. The entire meal in the afternoon was much less enjoyable than the first few times when we came here in the evening. The dessert saved the day though. That chocolate mousse was just too good!

One more edit: Tonight the food was bad. The cannelloni had too little sauce. They took the order for the lasagna and said they can't make it and replaced with the cannelloni which also they didn't manage to get. They took too long, more than half an hour to deliver just a buffalo tomato salad and the cheese was stingily put as if it got over and they somehow had to serve the food. They could have told us earlier that they have run out of food and couldn't serve us. That would have been better than serving us substandard food. I wouldn't come here again if I had not tasted them...

We visited A Tavola Con Te after hearing some good reviews about them.

The service is top notch, the staff is very polite. They even suggested us some of their best dishes to try. Nothing to complain about.

The atmosphere is okayish. It is not located in the main area and might feel a bit secluded to some. The atmosphere is pretty chill and it can even get very quiet sometimes.

Coming to the food. We order Quattro Formaggi, Al Capperie Olive pasta and Tiramisu.

The Pizza was good, the dough was perfectly baked. The crust thinness was perfect. There was a cheese on the pizza that we didn’t like but that was just because we were not used to that cheese.

The pasta was average. We felt that the pasta sauce was very concentrated which made it feel more salty. The tomato and olives used didn’t feel that great.

The Tiramisu was not at all good. It felt more like a pastry. The lady finger biscuits were alright but the texture of mascarpone cheese was really off. It was not smooth and the texture didn’t feel quite right. We have had better Tiramisu at much affordable...
