Disappointing Food Overshadows Decent Ambiance
Grill to Chill initially created a buzz in Uttarpara, but my recent visit left me feeling underwhelmed. The restaurant boasts spacious interiors, and for a moment, you might think it's one of the largest in the area. Usual weekday evenings are usually vacant when we went.
Food Lets Down
The food, unfortunately, was the biggest letdown. My order consisted of two dishes:
Tandoori Chicken (Average): I opted for the full tandoori chicken, expecting full chicken serving. Though, it arrived with 4 individual pieces, for the price this makes sense, the serving varies across restaurants. While the chicken was passable, flavour okay, a tad oily but sufficiently tasty, it seemed a bit past its prime and likely pre-cooked.
Chicken 65 (Not Recommended): This dish was a complete miss. Following the server's recommendation, I tried their Chicken 65. It is not chicken 65, or worth its money. However, the chicken seemed worryingly old. The texture and flavor were unrecognizable - it was difficult to even discern if it was meat or fish. The absence of the characteristic spice and the soggy texture made it resemble a sad soybean dish more than anything. This dish was a complete waste of money and left me questioning the overall kitchen practices.
Saving Graces (But Not Enough)
The presentation of the food was decent, and the staff was attentive. However, these positive aspects were overshadowed by the quality of food.
Overall: Needs Improvement
Grill to Chill has the potential to be a great dining option in Uttarpara. The ambiance is inviting, and the service is adequate. However, the quality of the food, particularly the freshness of the ingredients, needs significant improvement. Unless they address this crucial aspect, Grill to Chill risks becoming just another forgettable restaurant choice. I recommend they focus on using fresh, high-quality ingredients and revisit their recipe for the Chicken 65 to recapture the initial excitement...
Read moreOne of the better multi-cuisine restaurants among a few that are present in this place. I would not suggest best because food choice is limited a bit. Getting to know the unavailability of an item when you wish to eat it (knowing or unknowing it) feels a bit upsetting at times! Ambiance is good, it is a typically family restaurant ambiance, and one will have a good time with family. They also have a smart television as an additional entertainment system. Now coming to the most important point of the review. Its the food. My wish was to have some paneer item that should be less spicy so I ordered Paneer Tikka Butter Masala obviously after the suggestion of the waiter attaining our table. My Significant Other ordered Malai Kofta that was there in the menu card; However had to change it to Chicken Butter Masala due to unavailability, and we both had them with Tandoori Roti. Taste was good, however the Paneer went from being less spicy to highly spicy, how I don't know that! The time taken for the food to get served was approximately 30mins after placing the order! The restaurant is forcing you to buy mineral water bottle as they don't have regular water..!! They are saying it a safety addition keeping in mind COVID 19! Well the locals consider this place as one of the best restaurants, so if you come to this place you may try once. However after eating here, I actually realised personally I have taken comparatively better food at a more reasonable rate! Oh yes another important thing that should be mentioned, this place has a good parking place for two wheelers, however the four wheelers have to parked on the major arterial road in front if...
Read moreFrom the food to the staff everything was pathetic. When we enter the place it was packed with people.there's no santization or thermal checking going on in this pandemic situation.
The staff are very unprofessional , we had 2 pepper chicken as starters along with 3 noodle 2 Fried rice in main couse. But after just 1min we reliaze that we can't have fried rice as no one is interested to have that , when we called the waiter he said we can't change order. I mean what? In a 1minitue they just refused to modified our order. Moreover they just keep arguing with us. After that when we wanted to talk to the manager , they didn't called the manager either and then after had 10min of discussion with the waiter he said i will replace the rice with noodle, but you have to pay the price of mixed fried rice which 250/- and noodles was 230/- so we have to pay extra 40 bucks for that for two plate of replaced noodle. Now then we didn't order packaged drinking water and requested to serve regular water. They again refused to serve that as they said we don't serve regular water.
Now coming to the food from the starters to the main course everything was extremely dry , the noodles was bland in taste. And the chicken pieces were undercooked as well.
Overall it was a...
