New Urmila Restora — Restaurant in West Bengal

Recently had the pleasure of dining at this place after a long time. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance. The menu at Urmila Restora offers a wide range of dishes, and I was delighted by the variety of options available. We opted Bengali platter and every item was so tasty.. We ordered Fish fry (ok ok type) Jeera rice (well cooked and smells good) (4/5) , the oil was little bit more Dal makhani (so tasty 5/5) Mixed veg (4.5/5) Katla mach er kaliya (4/5) the pieces were big. The experience was preety good. The only lack was their man power is less so it's take little bit more time but the food was really good, like before.. This used to be one of the most popular restaurant in Uttarpara but after renovation they've become the worst.

Dining area has been renovated and now chairs are covered in red cloth covering like gramer biyer bari. Vibrant punchy colors and odd lights, the ambiance of this place is ruined. The old ambiance was way better. Most of the items on the menu weren't available as well.

Food quality has become worse, tried drums of heaven and chowmin it was full with food colors and there was hardly any chicken, seemed like besan pakora. Chowmin was below average but the quantity was okay.

Service has also been degraded, when we complained about the served food they were just casual and said it's like that only. We even cancelled other orders and they were just careless.

It doesn't seem Urmila wants to stay in business anymore, they're at the end. Go to Saffron they're located just a few steps away and serve a thousand times better food than Urmila for almost the same or...

Recently, I made a visit to the restaurant with lot of expectations of filling my belly with delicious food. Nonetheless, I was struck by their staffs' pathetic behaviour. The story was when I asked for water they gave a packaged drinking water, which is charged at its price and also added to the GST consideration which culminates into unnecessary price hike, to which I said give what is colloquially known as 'regular water', they refused to serve saying that they don't have that facility when I protested, they seem to start stonewalling me compelling me to have what is given. Overall, the quality is up to the mark but their management is sodding and require a overhaul should they want to survive the growing competition...
