This is a hugely popular restaurant with distinct pricing advantage. The place is nicely decored and has a big customer base. Parking is not an issue unless there is a wedding going on. The fish fry tasted good but the fillet was too thin for savouring the fish. Fish fry these days have outgrown such things fillets. Today sumptuous fillets have invaded the cuisine. The prawn cutlet was to die for. Do have prawn cutlet when you are there. Excellent and innovative. In the main course, the rajbariri chhanar dalna was a disaster. The chhena koptas were fried in a pocket of fermened flour... The chhena was no where to be found. Horrible. How can the same kitchen produce such excellent prawn cutlet and disastrous chhenar dalna is beyond my understanding. Now a word about service. The waiters are stressed and extremely inhospitable. Asked for normal water instead of mineral water. Was refused with disgust. Next for 20 minutes no one comes near my table. On being told a girl comes who continuously was talking to me looking at other tables and talking to others. She just refused to smile. All other waotors were members of international confusion society. They are all young people and I hate to pass judgements. But my idea is that they were stressed out. Management needs to have morning motivational talk before starting the day. They are young and needs training. You can't be so inattentive to guests in a restaurant. You have to give them a false sense of importance. Service needsvto improve a great bit. I had to walk down to cash counter to pay since no one was interested in picking...
Read moreExorbitant prices for meagre portions, exceptionally poor produce (mutton and chicken), we had a mutton and we sincerely regret the experience we had, if you order 2 rice dishes of the same name, they'll provide only one single container for both the portions and it would be 1.5 portions advertised as 2. The most unfortunate thing is that the chicken with 8 pieces would be around just over a 100gms of weight and only an infant can be satisfied with the portion size. It's pricey and even if I would vouch for the old school decor, the TV running was a constant distraction for people coming in for a nice dining experience, mutton Golbari is a famous Kolkata delicacy which they have interpreted in a very frolic way and it's a shame to say that the mutton bones weighed more than the mutton itself. To cut the chase short it was daylight robbery when it came to the portions and the price associated with them. Spending 4.5k in any restaurant in Durgapur is in itself a pricey affair and to spend it on something which places you in the middle of utter disgust and rage is something which I personally won't recommend anyone to experience, hoping for better from a mature name,...
Read moreAmbience was moderate. Overall the food quality was good. The service of the staffs is little slow. You have to wait for long after giving order for your menu. For covid situation, they are following few steps like seating arrangements are made keeping social distancing in mind, providing hand sanitizer on entry, the plates and cutlery are disposable. So no risk of re-use or anything.
Coming to the food: Chicken Malai Tikka Kebab as starter - The kebabs were soft and juicy and well cooked also their green Chutney was tasty. Jeera Rice was nicely made with few Dry Chillies as a Foron Moogh Dal was sweet and great in taste with few pieces of coconut on it. GolBari Kosha Mutton was rich, spicy. A pinch of black pepper was high in it. Overall it tastes good for those who prefer spicy. Fish in Chilly Garlic Sauce (Made of Basa Fish)- Little tangy, little sweet. It was good but the over smell of garlic was covering the rest...
