Having a convenient location very near to the Sodepur station, "Saffron Food Cafe" is a perfect place for a small family or friend hangout. This small restaurant has a cozy ambience with a comfortable accommodation for about 16-18 people altogether. The interesting fact about the restaurant is that it serves a combination of South Indian and North Indian food.
We reached the place at about 4 in afternoon. It was not crowded then. The manager himself came and asked for the order. After ordering a "Chicken Dosa" he advised us to try their winter special dish, "Palak Chicken Dosa" and thus we followed. Every person serving there and the manager is sweet spoken and very polite.
After 15 minutes of waiting our dishes filled the table. The "Chicken Dosa" was not very satisfactory. The base of the Dosa was not crispy and crunchy and it felt a bit oily otherwise the chicken preparation was very well cooked, spicy and tasted great. Coming to the "Palak Chicken Dosa", I must say that the dish was delicious. The crispy base and the perfectly spiced juicy chicken preparation was a wonderful treat to the taste-buds. A small tip to the not-so-much-foodies. You can order for one "Chicken Dosa" and one "Plain Dosa" because the chicken preparation served with the "Chicken Dosa" is enough in quantity to finish up in a go for one person, and so serves a good share for two person.
Later, the manager came to our table again and asked for the review. We told him about those little flaws and he apologized and assured that it will not be repeated again. So you can expect now that the "Chicken Dosa" is as delicious as the "Palak Chicken Dosa".
So do not control your food cravings and visit the place with friends and family. And yes! Do not forget to try their special "Palak Chicken Dosa" if you step into the restaurant...
Read moreI want to share my most horrible experience that I ever had in any food outlet before, we went there today in actual hope of having a good time however it turned out to be a nightmare for us. The BEHAVIOUR of the staffs are extremely unprofessional and full of arrogance which needs immediate attention by the management. Upon placing our beverage order we came to know we 'CAN'T ORDER ONLY BEVERAGES' without any food the waiter literally walked away with arrogance after informing this to us. I guess they are not familiar with the word "CAFE" which is tagged with the outlet name, also where is it mentioned anywhere in the entrance point or somewhere else in the cafe?? After reading similar behavioural issue reviews now in google I am not surprised anymore , it seems this is the general practise which they follow diligently with their customers. Such behavioural issues can led to severe downfall of the place. Simply don't recommend this...
Read moreHad a horrible experience today when I visited this restaurant in the evening with my husband and mother in law. The waiter lacked minimum manners. We wanted to order a plate of dahi vada which was rejected as the guests were supposed to order a minimum of two items as per his "rude instruction" . This is the very first time in my life that I heard a waiter staff literally talking to his customers in a threatening tone, as if we couldn't have afforded to order another dish. Moreover the things we wanted to order from the menu were not present so he kept on persisting us to order a cold coffee. I later asked my husband to leave as it was below my standard to eat in a place which forsters such rude behaving boorish waiters. Will definitely neither visit this cafe ever again nor will let our family...
